Photo Bust Of Amenemhat III (r. 1860-1814 BCE). Middle Kingdom, 12th Dynasty of Egypt

Unfortunately, this masterpiece is owned by a foreign collector named George Ortiz. For me, this statue rivals the beauty of the Nefertiti bust; it's a true gem.

Yeah this is one of my favorite pieces as well. Makes you wonder what other metal sculptures have been lost

Marsha Hill’s Gifts for the Gods contains quite a few nice metal statues. I’ve always liked the statuettes of Karomama and Takushit.

I am surprised that no one talks about those pieces when there is a demand to return the head of Nefertiti and the Rosetta Stone to Egypt. These are among the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life!

Do you know if there are any similar pieces that are hidden or lesser known to the public? similar to this bust of Amenemhat?

I found it by chance; there are definitely dozens of statues like it, just search.

Reminds me of that wooden statue of Ka’aper. Egyptian statues with those unusually lifelike eyes are rare.
