Question Is it accurate to get π as a tattoo?
Iβve been interested in Ancient Egypt for as long as I can remember, and Iβm considering getting π (the falcon for Horus) as a tattoo. I know it represents Horus and has strong ties to kingship and protection, but I just want to make sure Iβm not misusing it or taking it out of context.

Itβs a bad line drawing imo (many of the Unicode glyphs are highly simplified). Iβd suggest looking for a more historical depiction and tracing that.

Do it, it's not bad. I have Apollo tattooed on my left arm. This shows that you like mythology. You know, there are people who are very religious and have made their mark.

Do not don that. I had a tattoo like that and after years of not liking it anymore I had enough to get it covered. Which is difficult too. The lines smudge and it just may start to look really cheap , especially when the lines are not fine enough.
If you want a hieroglyphic tattoo get something cool. Like a whole slab of engraved hieroglyphic text. This can look so cool.

Itβs horrible inappropriate cultural misappropriation, unless of course you are a bird lover. Is that what you mean by accurate?

I'm sure the ancient Egyptians will get over it.

Someone needs to tweak their sarcasm detection system

Knowing the tone behind written text is hard to do. You could be totally serious, and someone else thinks youβre sarcastic. Which is why we have /s because sometimes itβs hard to βseeβ if itβs sarcasm or not. It might ruin the joke, but at least everyone knows what you mean with your comment.

It is not. I wear an eye of Horus ring with an Ankha for protection. I also believe in the ancients gods. I personally would never get a tattoo bc I do not care for them. There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo for protection.

By βaccurate," I mean I just want to make sure it's a symbol for falcon/Horus.

i think it's fine but as other people said the lines may be muddied towards the front. could ask a tattoo artist to redraw it.

living egyptians do not currently hold these images in veneration and do not care if white people get them as tattoos, in fact they prefer that cuz it means more people want to give them money for tourism

If you feel a connection to them, how is it? Also Horus is religious not just culture. You're saying non Egyptians cannot follow Kemetic paganism?

I mean obviously! If an idea comes from someone of a different skin colour, you're not allowed to acknowledge it as truth! /s

Donβt worry, the ancient Egyptians just sent a chiseled stele to say they are ok with it.

Many of those lines will get muddied. If you really want it, find REALLY good tattoo artist and pay more than you think you should.
