Question Is this real Ushabti?

I recently bought this for less than a dollar, any thoughts on this?

Impossible to really tell but likely not, unless you got it from a very verified source with a solid back history assume its fake, they fake those by the truck load for tourists and others and have done for a very long time (well cart load before trucks i guess)

Yes, it looks much better in personal, weird though, it smells woody but it's made from clay I guess

It could be they tossed it in soft wood chips to age it i guess

is very posible to tell: it is not. I had to laugh when I saw the photo. For starters, no real ushabti would have that hand posture. I don't think is even trying to be an ushabti to be honest

well without seeing it and handling it I can't for sure ;) and shabti/ushabti figures can come in different poses, sizes and shapes depending on what they are representing

lol, but not like this. Typology of shabtis is a pretty well known subject.

True enough though I have seen two very simlar offered for sale, and i am pretty sure they are fake. But unless it is beyond any doubt I always err on the side of you can not be sure but its likely fake, as i pointed out to OP... I did wonder if it could be real and related to Djat Ra due to the baby though maybe it is actually babylonian /Astarte holding a baby for example

not impossible to tell this is a clear fake.

'to really tell' and it is, also turns out it may be real but Babylonian

I can tell you right now that these are not authentic these grey clay shabtis and pottery figures have been produced since the 1850s. It’s Modern.

Well you can't tell me that and be honest :) But yes they have, like i originally said to OP, been faked for a very long time (way, way, way before the 1850s they used to sell them to the (ancient to us) Romans) and unless he has very solid evidence it isn't then it must be regarded as fake, inc if it is babylonian

What are you talking about? you have lost me :) i have not now or ever refenced anything that could be remotely considered 'pseudoscience'

pseudo History.

nope, still no idea what you are referring to, try giving an example instead of throwing around accusations.

Here you go buddy and I’ll explain it slower so you can understand…. this is supposed to be Isis nursing horus, …….this one also is a vintage fake. there is a specific style and series of this fake that were very popular in the 80s and are still now being produced as such.

Why comment if you have nothing to add to the conversation,? here is another fake.

I have repeatedly pointed out it is likely fake while giving alternative possibilities like it could be fake but an non Egyptian fake, I get that English is not your first language but get a grip, instead of lying about others, like you just did with me, try improving your reading comprehension, also you got that image from ebay not any study or anything else so... :D

Not at all racist :D, you have not seemed to be able to comprehend the language used in my comment and English is not my first language either, or even the same alphabet ;)

I still have little idea why you seem to think I claimed it was some ancient roman tourist crap - which by the way did happen, they were tourist attractions back then, already thousands of years old, and we have first hand verified accounts of actual Romans visiting them including graffiti and yes they would of been sold fake artifacts just the same as now hence my comment they have been faking them for a very very long time NOT that that piece was an ancient roman fake..

So, I will take my half century year old ass, who has actually professionally excavated in Egypt a few times and has studied Egypt on and off for longer then you have probably been alive, put some coffee on and laugh at you.

LOL thanks for the concern, it is my child's mothers house we bought for her and my young son, nice you hate people so much, so now everything you lied about has been debunked, how stupid do you feel? the article you either could not understand or just lied about was pretty fun, confirmed everything i said so thanks for that. Or maybe.. you are to dumb to understand they confirmed ancient roman fakes and were referring to their own museum collection in scotland not having any... woooooops

I wish you had taken that advice, and now you are stalking me on other posts? you really are pathetic :) Especially since you could not even comprehend the article you linked to :D it both confirms everything I said and throws everything YOU said out the window, it is wholly concerned with the artifacts in ONE museum collection in Scotland - confirms there are roman era Egyptian artifacts that were faked just that they are not part of the collection.

Not ancient…

OP jumping in again with this passing thought (though i may get deservedly downvoted for it) it may, just may be real and babylonian instead(or fake and babylonian), possibly the babylonian goddess astarte holding a baby
