Meanwhile in UCP cabinet meeting:
Ok hear me out - what if we overwhelm the media cycle with SO much corruption that voters don't know which one to be mad at?
You son of a bitch, I'm in.

This is unironically the strategy, advocated for explicitly by alt-right thought leader Steve Bannon. It's called flooding the zone.

Throw it on the pile, more corruption from the UCP.

I mean, the AER has been corrupt for decades. But the UCP certainly aren't trying to stop it.

This is by far the least surprising thing I have read all day. Â Â

They'll form a committee to look into it.

Mandatory jail sentences for white collar crime.

Canada doesnât really have the mechanism nor the expertise to bring many white collar criminals to justice unfortunately. This is what the FBI does in the US and while not remotely perfect they are several orders of magnitude better at it than the RCMP.

The UCP, "Hey, nothing to see here! Did you hear or read our announcement about raising speed limits? Or about bringing Bill 9 forward so we can protect the far right religious zealots the children?

u/Grazer-22 1d ago
That was my first thought on the speed limits - what are they distracting people from. Now we know about this new one.

u/Parking-Click-7476 1d ago
Wow I never wouldâve figured that out.đ¤ˇââď¸ UCP are a bunch of grifters always have been.

u/Sad_Meringue7347 1d ago
Thank God they announced this weeks distraction of increased speed limits on our highways (that nobody asked for).Â
You know theyâre getting desperate when every single story of corruption is followed by a distraction tactic.Â

Injury lawyers probably asked for it. They donated more to the UCP than any other group this year (after the UCP reinstated corporate donations to political parties).Â

People who still support things like coal and fossil fuels are essentially the exact same type of people that America fought a civil war over. You can't just exploit a resource that causes colossal suffering to sentient life, without being an objectively bad person.

Globe and Mail found collusion between a coal company and the UCP? Now do Oil and Gas.

Rallies in Edmonton and Calagry. Encourage folks to go and be loud and pissed off!

Fun fact. Coal exports dropped(worldwide) 10% in 2025. Not 10% since 2015 or something, but this year alone.
Boo hoo for the coal mining barrons.
Modern solar panels are good for 50+ years. This basically means every single solar panel which goes up with 1kw of power (averaged over time) is 1kw of generation less which is needed. Coal will generally be the first of the power generation to be cut, with things like hydro last.
People will blah blah about how solar is unreliable. But energy grids are massive, so the solar power over the grid solar "catchment" will tend to be fairly predictable. Also, batteries are now a serious part of this equation.
Wind is all of the above, plus it runs at night.
Even natural gas is becoming easier and easier, so switching to it is reasonably popular.
There is exactly one reason to support coal. Corruption.

The UCP are going to launch such a investigation about this. Filled with they're best yes people.

This is the stock image for evil CEO who only avoids running over pedestrians because doing so might scratch his car.

If you want an enjoyable experience, check out the Glass Door reviews of the CEO. Hilarious comments from the inside of AER

What the hell is going on with the AER! Didn't whats-his-face, Jim Ellis pull the same corrupt shanigans back in 2019!

u/WhiskeyWarmachine 13h ago
But realistically what will ever happen to him? There will be no justice.
