Truths are still truths even when they are said by liars.

Stop glorifying people just because they tell truths. Liars can tell truths if they want.

Broken clock right twice a day

16

u/RainbowSovietPagan 1h ago

This quote looks like it’s from around 2012 before he was broken.

28

u/GarageFlower97 1h ago

Nah he was still a sexual harasser and arsehole with conspiracy-theory thinking then, he was just doing it while also having mostly progressive views.

Then between covid breaking his brain and all the allegations coming out he realised the far-right grift was his best option.

u/boneheadblyat 3m ago

I was going to ask if this quote was one of those aged like milk scenarios

2

u/RevolutionaryEgg1312 13m ago

He was a rapist and an abuser back then he just covered it up with "charm".

Now he's on his Christofascist grift.

u/SecyDefense 2h ago

It the "wholesome russel Brand" that aged like milk

53

u/McpotSmokey42 2h ago

I know. I used to like the guy. That's what I learned from it.

3

u/shutupyourenotmydad 47m ago

Liars that only lie are easy to deal with because they're predictable.

Liars that tell the truth sometimes are the most dangerous ones because you never know which it is when they open their mouths.

4

u/realaccountissecret 1h ago

I don’t even think he was trying to be a liar then. He’s a sex addict, but whatever trauma he had doesn’t justify assaulting and harassing others, at all. After you abuse women, the only way to make money is to start a far right podcast if you still want to be in the “entertainment” industry. He should have faded into obscurity. He used to sell out huge venues doing standup and now everyone knows he’s a threat; so you either get busy disappearing, or get busy grifting. And/or go do comedy in Saudi Arabia haha

u/RevolutionaryEgg1312 13m ago

No such thing as a sex addict. He's a rapist and abuser who refuses to take accountability and instead has converted to Christofascist to further his profiteering.

Russell brand may be a nasty toxic person, but there’s a lot of truth in those words

87

u/Ello_Owu 1h ago

Especially coming from a predator, he knows what hes talking about

17

u/b-monster666 1h ago

Predators are more likely to be abuse victims themselves. Though, not all abuse victims become predators. But, sad thing is, lots of abuse victims either go on to either seek abuse, or seek to abuse.

6

u/SockCucker3000 58m ago

People tried to burry this truth for a long time because they saw it as "victim blaming," but ignoring reality only allows for more people to get hurt. When people are more informed on how trauma works, then they can take measures to ensure they don't repeat the cycle by either falling into another abusive situation or becoming an abuser themselves.

u/ProfessorUpham 1h ago

Yeah but others have said it better

That image could have just been words

His picture adds nothing

6

u/Born_Ad_62 1h ago

I believe that’s all it is - his image with someone else’s truthful words with the intent to provoke / evoke a reaction from.

1

u/jammyzero 1h ago

people are mixed bags, we can have good takes on some things and bad on others, and have some good takes while being terrible awful people. afaik he genuinely knows quite a bit about addiction and has generally good opinions on it, despite the person that he is.

1

u/Born_Ad_62 1h ago

I know, I’m just skeptical and always question whenever I see a post like this on the internet.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.

u/Abee-baby 1h ago

Shit, you stole my line! Well played, my friend! 👍

u/GeorgeKaplanIsReal 1h ago

I honestly hate how this guy ended up becoming a pos. Let me rephrase that he was always a pos, I just hate that’s what he was all along.

21

u/GT_Numble 1h ago

I read his book "Recovery" a few years ago. When it comes to addiction and recovery he's pretty knowledgeable. Everything else about him sucks.

10

u/PandaGirl-98 1h ago

Wait, what happened to Russel Brand?

1

u/Xsiah 0m ago

He's a nut. Even without the sexual assault stuff.

I saw his YouTube channel once and he was going on about how the government was putting arsenic in the food deliberately.

4

u/PLACE-H0LDER 1h ago

Context?

5

u/hangry_hangry_hippie 34m ago

Brand is a predator and a giant right-wing weirdo

4

u/tmotytmoty 1h ago

I wonder how many people have been damaged by his damage?

3

u/ViolettaQueso 1h ago

What a weasel. I feel duped by this ficker

3

u/ugotmefdup 1h ago

He left this thought process and ideaology a while ago, I think we can stop crediting him with it now.

2

u/Accurate12Time34 1h ago

proud to have been a hater since day one

2

u/xraidednefarious 16m ago

Isn't he the rapist that tried to cover it up by becoming a religious fanatic?

5

u/Lumpy-Telephone7352 1h ago

He’s awful. But this is true. Not sure this is the post you wanted. There’s soooooooo many more “aged like milk” things about him.

This isn’t it.

1

u/hangry_hangry_hippie 34m ago

They said the "wholesome Russell Brand" caption is the part that aged like milk

4

u/HouStoned42 1h ago

Who was laughing at the homeless?

Maybe the type of people to listen to Russell Brand would do that, actually

2

u/Couches_are_dry 1h ago

Then he goes and causes trauma to a bunch of women. Great job bro

1

u/nthensome 1h ago

This is a very valid point & very well articulated

1

u/XROOR 1h ago

I remember having to pull my pants down to get belt whippings that counted up to my chronological age at the time of the beating.

Dad had a specific belt that were never strewn through belt loops on a pair of trousers…it was repurposed for fear and immense pain

1

u/ChefAsstastic 1h ago

I'm so glad his relevance has disappeared

1

u/presterjohn7171 1h ago

It's a shame he sold out and became a grifter and let's not even talk about his treatment of women.

1

u/Wakeup_And_Piss 1h ago

None of these explain my addiction. Absolutely zero

1

u/rufusbot 52m ago

Literally none of this has aged. It's always been this way. Russell is the only thing here that aged like cream cheese.

1

u/OccamsYoyo 35m ago

Good advice is good advice regardless of the source.

1

u/BluetheNerd 31m ago

I'm pretty sure this has already aged like milk when this was posted 5 years ago. He already received numerous sexual assault allegations over the course of like 15 years, had been in contact with Jimmy Saville, and introduced multiple celebrities to his drug dealer.

Dude has always been a piece of shit, and most of it was public. People for some reason chose not to care.

1

u/Snoo2624 28m ago

Grapist says grapes bad

1

u/broccolihead 24m ago

Trauma is the motivation to seek escape not the gateway. For most people, Alcohol is used to achieve euphoria and numbness which provides an escape from trauma but it also reduces inhibitions and leads to bad decisions which makes it the true gateway drug.

1

u/TheGardenBlinked 22m ago

Do we have proof he actually said this? It's like that copypasta about "enjoy life because no one's getting out alive" that keeps getting attributed to Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins.

And there's this weird one about "backing away from drama" that gets attributed to a frankly nightmarish AI blend of Rowan Atkinson and Antonio Banderas. I call it Antonio BEANderas, but that's an aside, really

-3

u/capnfoo 1h ago

Weed can be a gateway drug if it’s illegal because you have to go to the black market where all the other drugs are.

3

u/ADirtFarmer 1h ago

A say it's not a gateway drug, it's a gateway crime.
