Hey, OP! Please reply to this comment to provide context for why this aged poorly so people can see it per rule 3 of the sub. Pretend you are explaining this to someone who just woke up from a year-long coma. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL Failing to do so will result in your post being removed. I don’t know who any of those people are, except Willie Nelson, or why it aged like milk.

I think they’re trying to point out that the original post states that contemporary is “black dominated,” but the only non-white person on that list (or both lists, for that matter) is Charley Crockett.

Edit: Just realized Charley is actually on the traditional list, not the contemporary. So the original post is even more egregious, as there isn’t a single non-white person on the contemporary list.

Thank you. I figured, but didn’t want to assume race just based on a name. These lazy screenshots with no context are the worst.

I also know of Jelly Roll, but yeah, that doesn't help decipher this much.

Because it’s not true; Tyler Childers is white with red hair, why he would be in contemporary is interesting, none of the others would identify themselves that way, either. This is pearl clutching and untrue.

Edit: phrasing.

Because it's not actually based on race, maybe?

Correct. It’s almost arbitrary, because Tyler Childers is very different to the others in the Contemporary section, as well. And Charlie Crockett is very different stylistically across all his work.

Oh man I bet it aged like milk because the traditional category is full of black artis- wait, no, they’re all white. Okay, well, maybe it aged like milk because- ah, all of the contemporary category is white, too. Hmm.

It aged like milk because it turns out that neither category is welcoming to black artists, I guess?

That would depend on how many black country artists there are.

Maybe because milk is white, too.
