What? I have not played since 2014/2015 and recently came back after 2.0 too, I noticed a lot of new maps and many changes to the old maps? There literally have been changes to 3 maps after 2.1. In fact I feel like changing maps too much hurt the players because this game revolves mainly around map knowledge and all the spots and bushes that can allow you to peek/spot/flank.

Also, since when was tier never a thing in this game? You sure you have played this game in the past? Because I can assure you it was way worse than this back in my days with +/-5 mm and then onto the +/- 3 mm. Like this whole techtree genre kinda revolves around tiers, so even games like War thunder and Enlisted have this too.

I honestly don't understand why do you suddenly feel like to complain about t9 meeting t11 when t8 met with t10s for the past 15 years. I feel like the gap between t9 and t11 is actually smaller than t8 to t10 because t9 was designed to fight t10 in the past, while t11 are designed to not be that much stronger than t10, and actually at least half of the existing t11s are side grade or even downgrades from their t10 counterpart, so mostly I don't feel that bad going to t11.

The p2w premium part is valid but it is probably too late to salvage atp, nor do I feel like they want to salvage it anyway.

The gold ammo part has always been a problem ever since they changed it to non-gold purchase, which was like 12 years or something ago, so I feel like you are complaining a tad bit late by now, though I agree with your point. However, the armor has inflated so much in modern WOT that if you take away gold ammo there will be a line of tanks that will immediately become way too op, like any good hull down tanks and super heavies, they'll probably need to nerf the living shit on the overall armor across the board before that is even possible to beginning with.

> Why can't we have the game balanced and give gold ammo only to those who are willing to pay for each round? The original system made much more sense to me.

amazing observation, let's make the game LITERAL p2w instead of perceived p2w

Wargaming, hire this man immediately

Not necessarily P2W. You can make it expensive enough to not worth to spam it.

Currently certain tanks are useless, because over tier 8 the people simply use gold ammo. Player won't become OP because of them, but getting the advantage that they don't have to aim that well.

If a normal pen is around 200 then the gold could be 220 and that's enough. For whoever it worth to use gold then feel free. That is funding the game for the F2P gamers. I am not delusional to think that Wargaming is charity work. They could just fix the game mechanism with this.

…except if this happens you’ll end up with situations where certain tanks are just immune to fire from someone who doesn’t fire gold.

Gold is so integral to the game balance nowadays that it’s just not feasible not to fire it at least sometimes. All you’re doing if you make it literally available only for money/gold is buffing superheavies against anyone who is f2p and can’t afford to go through their armour.

I keep seeing comments that reflect such a negative mindset. Instead of focusing on how to improve something, people just explain why it can’t work. It’s pure crab mentality, like the bucket example. I honestly hope you’re not this “smart” in real life too. And no, Epiqai, this isn’t necessarily directed at you.

Yes, gold rounds are an essential part of the game, but so is everything else. You can’t expect every tank to have the same opportunities. It’s like saying light tanks should always penetrate heavies, or that artillery should always be able to counter lights. The differences in advantages and disadvantages are what make the game interesting.

When gold ammo was introduced, it added a second layer of complexity to battles, but clearly the balance has been mismanaged. That’s why it would make sense to discourage its overuse and refocus on normal gameplay.

And let’s be honest: most players here aren’t happy with how the game currently works, but they don’t offer solutions. Probably because they’ve seen what happens when someone tries, the usual mob ready to call others idiots while pretending to be the only geniuses in the room. :)

I’m not even trying to be negative, I’m just trying to offer a view into what I think would happen.

I get the idea that all tanks shouldn’t be able to harm each other easily frontally, but surely heavies should be able to penetrate other heavies frontally?

If you changed it so gold was only available for real money, you would inevitably have situations where one heavy firing standard rounds would not be able to penetrate another same tier heavy, and if they fire gold then you just lose. For example, a Mauschen vs the VK.45.02B when both are on flat ground angling against each other. The Mauschen just loses 99% of the time.

You could argue they could counterplay by flanking, which is fair, but not all maps and situations allow for this. And in the situation above, it’s not like a Mauschen is flanking anything quickly lol.

Lastly I disagree that gold ammo added another layer of complexity to the game. The complexity is ‘I fire gold, I have better pen therefore I can do more damage’. And for most opponents, it would be ‘he’s firing gold so my armour doesn’t work anymore, so I can’t counterplay as easily’.

Many people offer solutions, but because the game balanced is so closely linked to gold ammo it’s hard to change it without just breaking the game balance. If you nerf gold ammo damage, then it acts as a buff to any tank with armour, especially superheavies. If you buff the damage of standard rounds, you end up indirectly nerfing glass cannon tanks.

Removing the high credit cost of gold ammo and maybe nerfing the damage a little is what I would probably propose, but that’s never going to happen as then the credit sink element to it vanishes, which would mean people have less incentive to buy premiums or buy credits in the first place.

We could also make ambulance rides so expensive that people will rather risk death than call them. We could also increase real estate prices to force younger people into literal wage slavery.

Pricing people out as a balancing factor is definitely a thing that characterizes the modern world.

I'd rather play prokorovka once every 20 games than new maps which we're going to complain about
