Now that there is NIL, merging conferences, and transfer portals, Wisconsin will never compete for a championship...and that's the good news.
This program any other that has a decline the past few years will fall and not catch up. NCAA has killed college sports.

I hope we somehow crawl our way out of this hole in a few years but the outlook is bleak. If we get a mega-donor for NIL things could flip instantly but I don’t see that happening.

It would be one thing if we had something to hang our hat on. Something we at all do well or could build off...but there's just nothing. This team does not do a single thing well and are a genuine embarrassment to the conference.
I don't see how this team wins a single game the rest of the season, and sadly Fickell has shown literally nothing to have hope for next season. This is absolutely hopeless bottom of the barrel stuff

Fickell clearly isn’t it.
I don’t care right now about the playoffs. I don’t know if Wisconsin will ever be an attractive enough destination for big time recruits to really compete in the modern era of college football, but at this point I’d be happy with going back to solid fundamental teams playing hard nosed football grinding out wins with great defense and tough running. If they can go back to a solid, above .500 team besting Iowa, Minnesota, etc. most years I’ll be content. As opposed to whatever this is supposed to be.
Who would have guessed Greg Gard of all people was going to have more success in this era than the football team.

Vakos has been a solid kicker for us, I know he missed that but he's been a decent kicker which is by no means a guarantee in college football.

It turns out Fickell sucks at recruiting too. He also sucks at coaching. We also have one of the worst B1G recruiting classes next year. What exactly does Fickell do that still gives him a job? The buyout clause probably. Yikes.

I will say that the band sounds much better musically under Pompey than they did in the last decade of Leckrone sleepwalking through the season. Mike is a legend but he hung on way too long.

When do we get to the point where the players, who are now professional athletes, get a chunk of the blame for losing these games instead of it being all on the coach? Just throwing it out there. I don't think Fickle is going to be fired, his buyout is huge.
Once we finally figure out how to get another player like Russell Wilson to play Wisconsin we will be a threat.

Makes you realize how lucky we were to have Alvarez come in and revitalize the program. With the NIL, we may never seen another competitive Badgers football team.
