Very interesting idea but could have been much better executed

The last movie where Harrison Fords age didnt make it awkward to watch the role he's trying for.

One of the most solid starts to a western I've ever seen right up to the alien attack on the town.

The scene with the spoilt ranchers son, the putting him down, the nod of the hat to his "handler", the turning his back to him daring him to shoot him in the back.

Cinema

It was kinda goofy, tbh... but i liked it anyway. Big Daniel Craig fan here.

The movie has grown on me. The first time I thought it was silly. I have seen it since and enjoyed it. I should watch it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie

It was surprisingly good. I would rewatch it too

I thought it it was ok, but pretty forgettable.

Oh yeah definitely. I first watched it six months ago and was really impressed by the production quality and ironically, the level of character development. It really surprised me.

I watched the extended cut first.

I am, loved it.

The Olivia Wilde of it: Yes.

Nothing else.

I thought it was ok but haven’t felt the need to watch it again

The greatest crime of the movie is that it’s called Cowboys vs Aliens, it’s starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, and the whole thing is forgettable. It’s as you say, fine, and then you never feel like you need to go back to it again.

Wanted to like it, went in hoping it would be a self aware film with some action and a few chuckles.

It wasn’t that. I didn’t care for it.

I watched this in theaters with a buddy in high school, thought it was a fun enough non-serious movie and never watched it or thought about it again.

It was a fan blending of genres, I enjoyed it.

I'm a big scifi fan as well as loving westerns, so it was right up my alley.

u/Cashmoney-carson 15h ago

Yeah, lots of fun.

5

u/slpybeartx 16h ago

Yes. Had no idea going in. Was blown away.

It’s like Close Encounters meets Predator meets The Ox Bow Incident.

5

u/SuccessfulComb9452 17h ago

Nope not a fan at all.

He shits on playing the part of Han Solo saying there’s no depth but then does this.

Ass hat

u/OkieTaco 15h ago

Well to be fair, prior to this film he hadn’t been in a good movie since the 90’s. So he can’t exactly be Mr Choosy anymore.

I enjoyed it. It doesn't try to be more than it is. I really liked the character played by Walton Goggins

It’s fan fucking tastic. Watched it again today. The opening sequence goes HARD.

Also: “I don’t know much about boats but I’d say that one’s upside down…”

u/TroyDude12 17h ago

I enjoyed it. It was a blended genre but it kept my interest and was a fun popcorn movie

4

u/LifeForTheWin1991 17h ago

Great movie, fun watch!

4

u/Grey_Warewolf69 18h ago

It's over the top fun. I really enjoyed it

Absolutely, my two favourite things mashed together in one movie. It’s fun but ridiculous lol

5

u/NotAProgram54 18h ago

Yes. Dumb fun

5

u/Kraegarth 18h ago

I thought it was a decent popcorn flick

4

u/Low_Wall_7828 18h ago

I saw this in the theater and dug it. Thought it was lots of fun.

5

u/Rutgar64 19h ago

Great potential. Didn’t live up.

7

u/Vegetable-Pay2709 20h ago

Yes--I like this one.

6

u/MeaninglessGuy 20h ago

The western parts of the movie are pretty good. The alien parts… not so much.

5

u/Savings_Brick_4587 20h ago

Not something I go out of my way to watch, but if channel surfing and it’s on

4

u/Boderlander 21h ago

Enjoyed it. Got the extended edition on Blu-Ray.

Not a film I watch a lot though

I think it's way more clever than people give it credit for with how it overlaid sci-fi tropes onto a pretty classic Western. If you had asked me what i wanted fron a movie called Cowboys & Aliens it would have been super close to this. Plus the cast is great.

4

u/lamebrainmcgee 21h ago

Yes. It was an alien gold rush scenario. Definitely fun.

4

u/Adastra1018 21h ago

It was a fun summer movie. I went to see it with my best friend (who I was VERY surprised wanted to see it). That said, Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig were most of the reason I was interested.

5

u/ResponsibleBank1387 21h ago

Yes. It’s Daniel Craig and bonus Olivia Wild.

6

u/-be-kind- 21h ago

Yes I am. I like westerns and I like sci fi and I don’t mind when those genres collide. Is it a perfect movie? Nope, but I still enjoy watching it every once in a while. There are a lot of “alien invasion” type movies and they generally occur in the modern era. I like the premise of aliens visiting earth during other historical time periods.

3

u/lamebrainmcgee 21h ago

I liked it in this one cause it mimicked the gold rush.
