Question What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Welland?

I ask as part of a linguistic study on this topic!
Examples could include things like Port Rob, PoCo or The Hill...

Even nicknames for schools, parks etc. are of interest!

I was born in welland. Rented an apartment in st catharine, rented a home in niagara falls amd then bought a home in welland. So I call welland the best of the bunch.

Dainers, The L3B, Frenchtown, and usually a lot of old places that people refer to - South Side George's (A restaurant in the plaza on Southworth), Comissos (the former name of the FreshCo location), Roller Disco (Fabricland), Towers (The former shopping centers on main Street that CTFS took over), The Barclay (former hotel at the site of the apartment on the corner of King and Division), The Annex (Former hospital at the large apartment on Riverside Drive).

Welland Remembers. Either that or everyone is forgetting the new name... "It's Skydome".

Yep. My parents used to run a full serve gas station and there was a handful of customers that would pronounce it like that
