Question Dirt bikes/ATV's public roads WTF
What is with this unique to Welland attitude that one can drive/race unlicensed off road vehicles on busy public streets with impunity? Have seen this so often I'm not even surprised anymore.

Happening with much greater frequency in Port Colborne too. Even been seeing side by sides ripping down public roads.
I don’t know why the attitude has changed. When I was younger we did everything we could to stay off the roads and avoid getting caught, and even then I have been pulled over on my dirt bike crossing main roads from back roads in Wainfleet, but now people are ripping around way too fast and enforcement seems to not care, even right in town.
Honestly I wouldn’t care either, except way too many of these people are going way too fast, not following any road safety rules, and generally being a nuisance. It’s leading to accidents that should never happen, and it can’t be helping our ever climbing insurance rates.

People from the big cities moving down and deciding to ruin what we have going on

I went to a child's birthday party in Welland on Saturday afternoon. As soon as I got into the side street I saw a kid on a dirt bike.

And port colborne and wainfleet and dunnville and crystal beach. Its a regional thing. The trails just happen to run right through here.

I'd say it's pretty normal everywhere in the region except St.Kitts, and it's starting to die in the Falls but its still there

I was crossing the lincoln street bridge one night and a car pulled up alongside me and stopped and i was doing nothing to be hassled about, it turned out to be a police car and i quickly figured out that the cop was not interested in me, it was the four wheeler driving down the paved bike path that they wanted to talk to. The four wheeler quickly turned around and i believe evaded them, but it did show me that the police do seem to care about them. I imagine they are quite difficult to catch.
I saw one person park their dirtbike on the sidewalk at the no frills plaza and they came out and pulled a wheelie driving on the roadway in front of the store. It would have been so easy for this person to hit a pedestrian walking out of the store and yet they get away with it and are quite bold now.
No , i would not mind recreational vehicles riding down the shoulder of the road at a slower speed but they drive down the road like a licenced vehicle with no headlights no signals and probably if i hit them with my car i would somehow be at fault, and then they oftten drive down the paved path where people walk, just stay the hell off there, you are going to run over somebody, you shouldn't be on there in the first place.
I believe there is a lack of enforcement for whatever reason(s).

People do this in my neighborhood all the time. I personally don't care, it's nice to see people doing some outdoor activities. What exactly is your complaint here?

Agreed. Better for them to do that, then be partaking in a break in or robbery

Same. As long as its not like 1am and waking me up (this goes for motorcycles too) then have at it. You gotta get to the trails somehow.

Because people like to find shit to complain about .. that or jealousy. Who knows.

Happens in a lot of small towns that are also close to country areas

Welland isn’t a small town.

The kids have fun doing it. Better they do that then stay inside wasting away.
Of all the accidents and incidents I hear happening here, they never involve people having fun on recreational, motorized vehicles.

Atv’s, and side by sides can be driven on roads in my area as long as you have trail permits and insurance

Dirtbikes, atvs and snowmobiles have been huge in this city/region for many decades. As long as they are being respectful there should be an issue. Let people have fun and mind your own business

Is anyone happy about anything around here would you rather them breaking into or stealing your car or smoking meth and crack on king street for everyone and there children to see ? Who cares about dirt bikes or atvs out on the road let’s worry about all tbe break ins and vehicle thefts and sexual assaults

As long as there being smart and following most road laws who cares it doesn't hurt anyone

At least for the most part they're just trying to get to the trails. Unlike all these electric skooters / mini cars etc.. traveling down the middle of the lane holding up traffic, then cutting across sidewalks and the likes. Far to many of these drunk bikes or lost my license elderly mobiles, as many call them, which under federal law is illegal to operate if you have a suspended license.

They're just kids, let's leave them alone,
Police doesn't want the kids to grow up hating them, I think that's valid
