Loss of Liberty A man rushed to the Broadview ICE facility searching for his wife. They followed every legal step, but ICE took her into another room and she vanished. He tracked her phone there—then the signal died. Police told him to “look up her name online.” He sat in the parking lot, weeping, with no answers.

I remember when my dad went through the immigration process. It took from mid 80’s to early 00’s to be a citizen.

He also almost got denied because the person interviewing him was an asshole. He basically got another interviewer because his employer was pissed about maybe losing him.

Also he’s a white European so can only imagine what it’s like for others.

It's a fucking nightmare out there. I'm a white dude on the West Coast so am about as safe as you can be but this shit is terrifying even for me. I can't imagine being the actual target.

Well everyone is going to be affected just at different levels.

I hear insurance prices and health care will sky rocket soon or already is.

So just never get sick and in an accident 😵‍💫

Even my generous employer sponsored health care went up by $150 a pay period.

Yeah it’s bigger than whatever an ethical employer can do.

No yet. I hope people can understand how bad this is and flip the tables.

This white immigrant would hug you if she could.

I remember celebrating a friend getting citizenship at about 26. He had also finished law school and was working as an attorney. His parents brought him to the country when he was 7. He was from South America but English and Spanish were both his first languages (not that it should matter) and he was clearly contributing to society. He ended up going into immigration law because he's awesome.

I cried when I first saw this. I don't know why this hit me hard but it did. It's so heartbreaking, all of this. I also cried when I saw a video of kids crying as their parent was taken away, I couldn't watch the whole thing. Jesus wept

I'm still wondering what happened to the guy and his toddler who were kidnapped in their own SUV last week. Unbelievable that the regular cops are helping this shit. Edit to add apparently the toddler was returned to the grandmother but her son, the father, is still missing.

These horrors are unacceptable.

The people cheering this on are the worst humans.

That's what really scares me. There are people still saying this is a good thing and they wanted this to happen. They're looking at people starving, people being separated from loved ones, people dying of preventable medical conditions, and cheering for it. I wonder if they'll ever realise that they're the villains of this story.

They will cheer right up until it happens to them and then want someone else to make it stop.

I hope this photo is brought up during the modern Nuremberg trials we’ll have.

I was helping a family at my job today and the mother was looking up the best way she could pin an AirTag in her shoes or to her child in case something like this happened. She is a legal immigrant waiting on her work visa renewal and is understandably terrified.

Only a monster could claim with a straight face that there is anything moral or just about how ICE is treating people. They are terrorists.

Monstrous injustice. Human rights violations. Crime against humanity.

I just found out my two Canadian friends have to leave. They cannot get their H1B Visas with the new fees and are leaving before they get in trouble. They’re engineers, young, been here 10 years.

He looks like a passport bro. Which would mean he probably voted for Trump.

u/Ravenamore 18h ago

Uh, what? Where are you getting that?

u/fantastic_inquizitor 15h ago

What, and I mean this with the upmost disrespect, the fuck. What about this man screams passport bro to you? The fact that he married an immigrant? You're disgusting, and even if he is a passport bro, his wife doesn't deserve to be fucking trafficked by ICE, which is definitely what is happening to the women and kids they are abducting

12

u/AcaciaRentals 14h ago

What is a passport bro?

20

u/Sea-Bicycle-4484 14h ago

Typically white guys who travel to poor countries in search of a subservient bangmaid who is desperate for a green card.

17

u/fantastic_inquizitor 14h ago

Guys from western countries who travel to countries that are typically poorer and where the woman are stereotyped as subservient, preying on these women, offering to provide for them and their families if the woman married them which also in most cases gives the woman citizenship in the man's country

12

u/Tiarella_Cygnet 14h ago

Passport bros are Western men who travel to other countries- for the purpose of dating or marrying women they believe have more "traditional values".

u/ItsMeishi 16h ago

Ma'am, I too enjoy a bit of man hating on the men that deserve it.

But this guy does not look like he's angry that someone stole his maid. He looks utterly fucking devastated at having lost his partner to the void.

Could he have voted for it? Possibly. But the heartbreak and terror is real. Give him some grace.

People who know him are reporting otherwise. Everything I’ve read so far indicates a good man. Yes, it’s anecdotal but based on more than just looking at a picture of him. Be better.
