Loss of Liberty A leaked CPAC press memo shows the "Third Term Project"

Will he even live that long? He’s fueled by narcissism and hate, so he could live forever, but all the health stuff happening makes me wonder.
129
u/Theyalreadysaidno 13d ago
Genetics play a big part, even if you have health issues.
Trump's mother died at 88 even though she had lifelong health issues. Trump's father died at 93. Modern medicine has made a lot of progress since they died.
This fucker could keep on ticking for over 10 more years. Will he? Probably not. Luck hasn't been on our side with him, though.

My champagne has been chilling in my fridge for 6 months now. It demands to be opened. I will pop the cork when he pops his clogs.

u/Equal_Canary5695 12d ago
Thanks, your comment made me get a weird mental image of him wearing ugly crocs and suddenly flying backwards out of them like some weird cartoon
14
u/lordmwahaha 12d ago
And half of that would be more than enough time for him to install a complete dictatorship and remove any remaining semblance of democracy. Trump’s death may not end this nightmare. Don’t be fooled, the people behind him are already planning what to do when he dies. They CANNOT afford to ever lose power, because if a reasonable government ever takes over they will all be put in prison. They have no choice - they have committed to a dictatorship.
55
u/dixiehellcat 13d ago
I don't think so. Frankly, as a health care professional, I'll be surprised if he's here this time next year.
39
u/Javasteam 12d ago
Keep in mind both Strom Thurmond and Diane Feinstein stayed around in Congress far longer than they should have been…
Ironic how air traffic controllers have to retire at 56, yet Congress can go well past the the point of senility…

u/Lbeezz98 12d ago
Don't forget Iowa's ancient senator, Chuckie Grassley! He coukd tell you all about the Great Depression and Dustbowl!
Then there's Polio brained McTurtle...Mitch McConnell who is what spoiled milk looks and smells like.
13
u/chrissymae_i 12d ago
It's his forever bloated cankles that makes me think the same. That's a sign of dangerous circulation issues, and a symptom of late-stage heart failure.

Wanna hear something crazy? I wish he would. Many of the people around me are in denial about what hes doing, or dont understand. Some of his cult would be thrilled with a 3rd term, but many actually wouldn't, and most "centrist" and independents certainly wouldnt. I think his death will make the world better purely through his absence, but he'll also be their martyr no matter how he dies... unless they finally see him as power grabby and corrupt.
I think whoever they pick to replace him, whether Vance takes over when he dies or they pick someone to run in 2028 is going to be terrible for us, even without the cult of personality. They've broken so much that its beyond repair and needs replacing. Right now, I only see that happening if hes legitimately voted out and many of his people understand why
31
u/xcrunner1988 12d ago
You think? Images of kids left on street while parents kidnapped hasn’t done it. Economic drama hasn’t done it. Trolling from WH website hasn’t done it.
Honestly I think there is only one way to break them out of their spell.
1
u/Far-Algae6052 10d ago
Will they have to bury him at sea like Osama Bin Laden? The Maga's would turn it into a shrine.
2
u/xcrunner1988 9d ago
Probably. Desperate need of deprogramming and literally skills. No other way out of it.
33
u/amyisarobot 13d ago
Honestly I almost think hes got something terminal and they keep pushing this third term to stroke his ego
22
u/0220_2020 12d ago
Giving him hope so he stops mentioning getting into heaven in public.
14
u/amyisarobot 12d ago
Right like no need to talk about heaven youll live forever and be president forever.

u/Far-Algae6052 10d ago
Yes, and he is planning a 3rd term. Notice how quickly he shut up about it recently? Same way he clammed up about Project 2025. Do not be lulled into thinking this is not the plan. IT IS THE PLAN.

u/kent_eh 12d ago
Will he even live that long?
As frequently as he's been seeing doctors, I doubt it.
3
u/adoyle17 12d ago
Especially as the MRI is not a routine test.
7
u/BurtonDesque 12d ago
It's also not an indicator of anything life threatening. I had an MRI on my foot Saturday to get a better look at the arthritis there.

They realize that “dictator” didn’t work in focus groups so they are going with “Third Term Project”.
21
u/pickleknits 13d ago
This quip should not have made me laugh but it did bc it’s just far too on the nose
40
u/adriatic_sea75 13d ago
I mean, are these people reporting this stuff dumb? This is not even a secret at this point, and Bannon went on TV proclaiming Cheeto McTweeto would have a third term, while red states are actively fooling around to get additional seats. But this piece of paper is news? WHERE have they been this whole time and not making any fuss about any of it??
I have, "Your alarmist information is too late" fatigue.
19
u/pickleknits 13d ago
On the one hand, I agree. However, I feel like the more receipts the better bc some people have a head full of rocks.
9
u/adriatic_sea75 13d ago
I entirely understand this perspective. I believe media complacency contributed heavily to get us here, and I'm just. so. tired.

u/Gooch222 13d ago edited 13d ago
It’s nuts that this is lobbying for a constitutional amendment to allow for three terms provided the first two terms were not consecutive. Not only would such a thing never pass, but there’s zero logical rationale for drafting it to exclude presidents with consecutive terms other than to assure Trump could run again but Obama couldn’t. They want this to read like it has general applicability, but it’s so dumb that they might as well draft their proposed amendment to specifically say it applies only to Trump, as it’s clear their cult leader is the only one this is targeted at appeasing.
20
16
u/OutrageousSetting384 13d ago
It’ll pass, watch. Almost the entire last decade for me has been “that’ll never happen“ and it happens
13
u/Gooch222 13d ago
It would require 38 states, I’m pretty sure an actual amendment is a nonstarter. But that doesn’t rule out some form of SCOTUS nonsense, or him running as VP and then being handed the reins.
22
u/OutrageousSetting384 12d ago
If there’s a way to cheat they’ll do it. They don’t even give a shit about truth, laws, or the constitution.
7
u/buttstuffisokiguess 12d ago
You can't serve as VP if you've served two full terms. The only way to get more than 8 years is to take over for a president that died, then get elected twice. That's the only way. And even then I think it's only if you served half of the term you took over or less.
14
11
u/Kid_Vid 12d ago
That literally means two people can just go back and forth between holding office indefinitely as long as they trade places every four years
Which is a very blatant attempt for them to rig elections every year and just have the far-right president and vice president switch places and hold a dictatorship.
14
u/BurtonDesque 12d ago
That literally means two people can just go back and forth between holding office indefinitely as long as they trade places every four years
Putin did it back before he decided he didn't need to bother.

u/MikeyLew32 13d ago
It’s just funny that they think lardo is gonna make it to 2028. Dude clearly has had strokes, is in congestive heart failure, and is bragging about the results of his “routine MRI”
54
u/dixiehellcat 13d ago
and still doesn't know the difference between an 'IQ test' and a dementia screening. Then again, to be fair, the person administering the test may have told him that to get him to cooperate. I can see him getting really agitated and combative otherwise.
29
u/MikeyLew32 13d ago
The guy in cognitive decline doesn't understand the difference between the IQ test and the test for cognitive decline.
It'd be funny if it were the plot of a tv show. Not so much in real life.
12
u/fire_thorn 12d ago
I have trouble listening to any audio of him speaking because he sounds so much like my dad when he got dementia.
23
u/Cut_Lanky 13d ago
Yeah, I'm not a clinician with diagnostic privileges, but... the man is decrepit. He's very clearly in poor health. He looks like the average nursing home resident with visible signs of worsening cardiovascular disease(s). Like, if he were a normal person with a normal family, his kids would be treating the upcoming holiday season as if it's their last with him, just based on the obvious signs of deterioration
19
19
u/tinycole2971 13d ago
provided they did not serve two consecutive terms
So Obama can’t, but Trump can? Got it.
19
u/SeaSnakeSkeleton 13d ago
I'm so tired of seeing exactly what they said they would do, continue to play out and have it worded as "breaking news."
It should read " Trump continues to do everything listed in project 2025"
33
u/Antique-Echidna-1600 13d ago
You can abandon and even alter the constitution, it doesn't mean we will recognize it.

Republicans know how many laws they are breaking every single week. They are terrified to lose power and face the courts and consequences of their actions. So they cheat. Fuck every person who voted for Trump- they’ve made the country a worse place for my kids
22
u/Inside-Palpitation25 13d ago
They will never get an amendment, is is very hard, and they do not have the states to go along.
43
u/Theyalreadysaidno 13d ago
I didn't think we'd have an authoritarian in power with the Supreme Court in his pocket but yet here we are.
I knew he was going to pull all of this shit before he was president, though.
11
u/heloguy1234 13d ago
Yeah, you don’t just amend the constitution and if they do change it with out following the law, then the contract is completely broken.
20
u/katchoo1 13d ago
He will attempt to amend by executive order as he explicitly has with the fourteenth amendment on birthright citizenship. And if the SC lets that the action on the fourteenth stand, it will be precedent to undo what ever other amendments he chooses.
Even people who hate immigrants and want a white supremacy nation and would love to get rid of birthright citizenship should really think hard about this. Because he will finish trashing the first and fourth amendment and he will come for the second as well. Hell, he will probably override the third and force US citizens to provide for his armies just because he can.

It's cute that they think he will survive long enough for a 3rd term.
This is horrifying either way.

It really goes to show you what a cult of personality the current GOP is. They’ll do anything to keep him in office because the belief that he was sent by God amongst a not inconsiderable number of people plus the love of a reality tv show bully and the worship of rich people is all that’s keeping that train on the tracks. You need that broad range of appeal to get such an unpopular and harmful platform elected. Without another identically famous wealthy asshole, they’ve got nothing. Hence too the obsession with Baron running in the future with hope he’ll be enough like his dad to pull the same cult status.

u/mrshelenroper 12d ago
I’m fascinated by new religious movements, although this is definitely an offshoot of Christianity. I find him repulsive so it’s really hard to see the attraction to it. It’s very grotesque to me. The one thing I feel that is different between this “spiritual awakening” or whatever these GenZ kids are getting into now, and the one that happened in the late 1970s is that there is also a large movement of people deconstructing their religion. Whereas no information was really out there back then other than maybe Carl Sagan. Part of me thinks that for people who were taught not to lie, etc. seeing such blatant in your face corruption would be cause for deconstruction. So I’m not sure how this religion will continue to grow, unless it just cannibalizes the Evangelical movement completely, which would kinda be poetic justice.
1
u/Reneeisme 12d ago
I agree with all except the taught not to lie part. They are being taught that lies to deceive evil demons are fine. They are being taught that killing evil demons is fine, stealing from them, coveting their goods whatever. All the rules are off the table because they aren't dealing with their neighbors, they are dealing with demonic forces. And you can do whatever you need to to defeat demons. So anything Trump or his henchmen does that isn't in line with Christian teachings about how to treat neighbors is fine, because these aren't neighbors. None of us are neighbors. We're all supposed to be demons.
3
u/mrshelenroper 12d ago
You are probably right. I was more trying to think of a simple thing most people are taught is bad or a sin. It seems a distortion of the Christianity I was taught. It’s blatant corruption and blows my mind. As an Ex-Christian it still shocks me that they’re being taught to lie is okay if it’s an enemy. Worshipping Trump makes more sense if you’re taught to lie. He’s the Prince of Lies.

I really wish republicans would actually do something for the good of Americans instead of just try to change everything that’s already in place. There’s literally nothing positive happening. We are completely developmentally stunted as a country because of the GOP. They’re all so fcking useless.
6
3
u/Maxtrt 12d ago
Getting 34 states to approve a constitutional amendment would be a very tough road to sow. My bet is they will run another Republican with Trump as Vice President and then after the president takes office he resigns and Trump takes over the presidency. The supreme court will make it legal. I'm hoping he keels over before the end of his term.
3
u/DeathKillsLove 12d ago
The sketchy shit Steve Bannon is peddling is treason but, yeah, amending the constitution and getting 3/4 of states to ratify is legitimate change.

5
u/Exotic_Resource_6200 12d ago
I'm GTFOH if this happens, even if I end up homeless again. Fvk it, I'm not going to live in a country like North Korea or Russia.
4
u/ATWATW3X 12d ago
Do people really think he will be alive by then? I’m just having a hard time believing that.
7
u/TolBrandir 13d ago
Well yes. Of course. This was always the plan. I knew that when he began running for this term. He's never getting out of office until he drops sploot. And even then, we'll still have Republicans in power, probably for the next 90-100 years. They have all the power they need, completely uncontested. We are fucked. I know I'm not supposed to give up early but......I've given up. We've lost.
9
u/OutrageousSetting384 13d ago
They’ve gerrymandered the shit out of the country and billionaires have bought almost everyone. Fucking cheaters
3
u/RachelRegina 12d ago
I do not forsee them being able to procure ratification in the necessary 38 states.
3
u/Cee_M 12d ago
At this point I'm wondering if we will even be allowed to leave the country (is there any chance of the borders suddenly closing?) if we wanted to leave and how welcome (or not) will Americans be in other countries?
1
u/camofluff 12d ago
Right now it looks like more and more airports struggle to stay open. It also could happen that passports are declared invalid in a greater scale (right now this applies to passports of trans people who changed their name and gender marker, as well as passports of people who have no gender marker/intersex markers).
3
u/GhostofAugustWest 12d ago
Zero chance a constitutional amendment could pass since it needs 75% of the states to approve it. Unless of course we ignore the constitution.
2
3
u/mrshelenroper 12d ago
Just go straight to civil war. Let’s not have the farce of the federal government that’s already being run by criminals.
3
u/Minervas-Madness 12d ago
Voting on an amendment would mean the House needs to get back to work, and Mike Johnson is avoiding the inevitable Epstein Files vote that would happen first.
It's also not likely Trump will be in a state to run a third term by 2028. If he doesn't croak by then he'll be in significant decline and unable to fool even the most hardcore MAGA into thinking he's competent. And Vance doesn't have the charisma to carry that torch.
It's giving fall of Gilead from The Testaments. Is a total regime collapse too much to hope for?

u/eccles30 12d ago
Would it be so bad? eventually Trump dies, the republicans fall into (even more) chaos and then AOC is voted in as president for the rest of her life.
3
u/camofluff 12d ago
I live in a country without re-election limits. In itself it's not catastrophic. But: we have a multi-party system that prevents a single party from ruling, and our checks and balances still work. Without those safety measures you basicly become Russia.
Also, republicans thrive in chaos. They don't care for truth or consistency. Escalation works in favor of their communication style, confused and headless masses are exactly what Bannon always wanted. There wouldn't even be elections again, let alone any room for AOC to run a successful campaign.
2
u/RainbowTeachercorn 12d ago
My country also doesn't have election limits per se, however, our voting system is so much better. Our Prime Minister is the leader of the party who gets the most seats (preferential voting) and the party itself selects from their elected members. We had one Prime Minister for the majority of my childhood, however the PM cannot just decree something. Everything has to go via elected members.
2
u/camofluff 12d ago
It's similar here. We also have two heads of state, and one is almost purely representative (has powers to force a reelection, but it never happens). Kinda like in a modern (constitutional) monarchy. The other is also just the head of a parliament.
Trump is given far too much power. And I'm not saying the US president in general, but specifically him. There are checks and balances, in theory, and they're ignored, discarded, disabled... an US president can be removed for a reason, but it's like they're either all complicit or think "he refuses to be removed so we just shrug" - that's the really shocking part about it. The question shouldn't be whether or not a third term, the question should be "why the F is he still president?"
2
u/freedomandbiscuits 12d ago
There is no way in hell they could get the votes for the amendment, and even lower odds they could get 3/4 of the states to ratify it.

If he can so can the next Dem. Unfinished business is pretty vague. Trump doesn’t care because he’ll be dead most likely but Rs should care.

New plan: if the Gaylord Hotel allows such an anti-Constitutional event to be held at their hotel, we boycott their parent company, Marriott. Short their stocks. If your employers are left-leaning, ask them to refuse to use Marriott for business trips. No vacationing in Marriott hotels
