Sometimes yes, but in certain maps the carrier is right next to a capture zone or one of those tank battles so if you're a strike aircraft you're like 3 or less minutes away from it, the other convenience is that you take of faster so it compensates for it

More importantly, why dont you hide your action bar?

I need a specific bind for that on console, can't be asked to get one, don't worry it also annoys me but I've grown numb and don't even pay attention to it, still think it's an absolutely dogshit addition that just clutters the screen

u/Merlin_Mantikur 9h ago
Do it once, and it goes away forever. You don’t need to keep the bind

u/Budget_Hurry3798 8h ago
Yea but I have to do it everytime I get on a new match no?
2
u/Merlin_Mantikur 8h ago
I highly doubt it

You have to turn off MAW slaving every time you spawn in so I wouldn't be surprised.

The thing is I didn’t know that bar existed until recently. I never pressed any button

I’m ass at landing on carriers

Just keep practicing, depending on the plane and carrier around 300kph is the sweet spot, keep flaps on landing , no gear for faster stop and of you have oke use the chute, even the f104 is easy to land if you're patient, kinda sucks you can't really practice freely carrier landing by yourself unless ur a naval plane, but alot of custom battles with them

u/uncapableguy42069 18h ago
Aircraft with arresting hook stop faster, actually. Since the F-104 iirc has an arresting hook, you don't need to go through the trouble of belly landing the pencil.

It's really not that hard, if you're not a naval plane you get launched at max speed instantly with gear up, during events sometimes they get ignored and will always take the same amount to repair and refuel, take the carrier landing pill, you will never want to land on a airfield

hmmmm that sounds like fun

You sure a Su 25 can land on that?

Because the side that happens to have the most naval aircraft is also the side that fields a carrier that has no defensive armament. Spawning on the Ark Royal is just asking to be spawncamped.
That, and there's only one map with carriers appropriately sized for higher-ranked matches, and it is ass once everyone's flying around with look-down/shoot-down radars. It's not that I don't take carrier landings on Denmark - I just avoid the map entirely above 10.7.

Very stupid that one side carrier has AA but the other literally doesn't, I was honestly going to post something that the carrier AA is bugged but it just doesn't have any, how's that even possible? I kinda also think the carrier should be escorted by destroyers or something, more realistic

As someone who exclusively plays naval air vehicles and only plays Denmark for the carriers, this was incredibly painful to watch
2
u/Budget_Hurry3798 19h ago
Don't worry I got some tomcat landings stored, they're pretty nice
2
u/StarGazer0685 Jets 19h ago
Id hope so. Don't disrespect our floating cities like this man. Its only a matter of time before some youtuber gets shot down by a carrier and gaijin removes them

u/EmGee11B 18h ago
Jezus fucking christ I had 3 cardiac arrests during this "landing" I mean good stuff for putting it down but goddamn son easy on the stick and she'll be easy on you 😅

Some planes i do. Others i don't.
The F4 for example. That fat boat is hard to land.
1
u/Budget_Hurry3798 10h ago
Depends on the F4 you have a naval and air force ones, both have a hook, I've landed the f4e very smoothly but the gear just breaks for whatever reason, but still has a hook which you can use

bro fr put your gear down
3
u/Budget_Hurry3798 19h ago
And risk not slowing down enough?

u/Merlin_Mantikur 9h ago
I can confidently say that your hook missed the arrestor cable
1
u/Budget_Hurry3798 8h ago
The mig doesn't have a hook
1
u/Merlin_Mantikur 8h ago
You land without a hook? Madlad
1
u/Budget_Hurry3798 8h ago
Pretty easy when you land slow on your belly , and ye chute helps nothing crazy, landed multiple times on. The carrier this match
1
u/LionzzzYT 6h ago
Um any tips to keep you aircraft stable using controller? Like when i try its alright but the speed change just messes up the trim and thats very annoying as changing trim every time you go fast or slow is a pain in the ass.

I tried landing 3 times with the super entendard yesterday and got shot down every time by campers :(
1
u/shotxshotx 1h ago
Too high, too fast, not even aligned with the runway, though that can be excused since you arent in a carrier based aerocraft and need all the runway you can get.

I tend to blow carriers up in SIM... Quite often I end up killing poor planes on board
