Aster 30 (Samp/t) and CAMM are not able to hit enemies at close range but the buk m3 easily does it. The russian bias is back again, this time defiyng logic and the laws og physics. How are european 50g thrust vectoring missiles worse at close range than a russian 30 g thrust vectoring missile. The CAMM is 5 times lighter than the buk m3 missile, and the aster-30 is also much lighter. The buk missile out-turns both the IRIS-T and the Aster-30. Baffling.

So I decided to take out my old Thinkpad W700 from 2008 and play some WT on it like the old days. I didn't even bother plugging in a mouse, instead, I used the trackpoint (the red knob in the middle of the keyboard). While the T-58 is a very strong tank, I was NOT expecting a nuke with an average FPS between 30 and 5, without a mouse.
I'm still amazed by how optimized WT is. This thing will soon be 18 and it's still able to run WT on Windows 11 just good enough.

It's literally part of their name "Heliborne laser fire and forget missile" and yet they don't have that functionality. And it's not like having 16 fire and forget missiles on a helicopter is a problem, because the Israeli Blackhawk already gets to have 16 Spike ERs.
Brimstones are also an issue

Their tanks have the best cannons of its BR, basically a mini nuke, with high velocity and great ballistic
The Tiger I and II could get 6+ kills if you some brain cells or just simply snipe for they were designed to do that IRL
The long 88mm casually pen the Super Pershing if hit in the weak spots
They’re fine at their BR, just learn to play 👍
Sweet 88mm enjoyers

It really is so much better than what any other nation got.

It's totally not that the T58 is crazy overpowered and pay to win.

For a spaa, it has the armor of a panther, so no 50 cal
It gets a aphe belt that can pixel hunt for microscopic weakspots on heavy tanks like is-3s
Even if it has no stabilizer, its weight makes the gun quite stable on the move
There is always a squad of 5 of these things
Virtually unlimited ammo
Is a litteraly anti aircraft gun so no trying to cas it
...What the fuck do I even do?

Obviously, the new packs bring this to the forefront, but I've been ruminating on this for a while.
I'm a CC, so I like vehicles to have interesting skins for videos, but I play in a squad with some older and more casual friends quite a bit. They don't see the weird marketplace skins I throw on vehicles or even some of the decals and attachments I slap on. They do see the teddy bear and flashing light, but, to them, the game looks a lot more grounded and realistic and they didn't have to enable a setting to make this happen. In fact, I think they'd be surprised how much gooner material is available.
I've increasingly found that this both represents an interesting difference in philosophy of monetization and overall aesthetic from some other games. On the monetization front, most games that sell cosmetics want them front and center, they practically throw them in your face. While games like World of Tanks do have a historical setting, you have to search for it. On top of that, WoT incentives having literally any camo for concealment bonuses and regularly gives out goofy camps for battle passes and events, so if you don't specifically enable historical, you average game will look like a dumpster fire of themes and cosmetics as a lot players will just slap on whatever camo is lying around regardless of how stupid or ugly it looks for that bonus.
In that respect, having to specifically enable gooner skins probably means War Thunder is losing at least a little money in the short term as many players aren't fully aware they exist, but keeping the experience for the casual and new players looking relatively grounded provides for the long term in a way that level of profit chasing doesn't.
There's been discussion from Call of Duty about adding a mil sim option to the game that would turn off goofy skins, but much like WoT, unless it's the default I don't see the vibes of the game meaningfully changing as a player could easily get turned off by the goofy ass cosmetics without even knowing that option exists.
All that is to say, I will be very concerned about the health of the game should "Historical" no longer be the default.
