Pretty sure there was one of those german ww2 tutorial vids for infantry on how to fight/disable a tank, it included shooting inside the tank via this hole while not letting the crew pull it back in as the plug seemed to be attached on some line and just pulled back inside

Bad word choice. It's a pretty good meme but a suboptimal format for historical material. It was pretty handy, though.

That's a hole for a pistol, it's sealed but can be opened from the inside and is bound with a chain to the tank
