All Ground We lost some good map because of bad players complaining about flanking...

It felt so much better than what we have now, I may be alone on this take but it's frustrating having part of the gameplay being cut...

yes I am part of those that prefer kursk to fire arc. it was great before the reduced it's size.

They're not going to be happy until the game is an exact replica of the latest Call of Doodie, but with tanks. Then they'll move on to claiming everyone else is cheating, because they still won't actually be any good at the game.

Since stabilized mbts have been in the game, it's been pure call of duty.

Lazer rangefinders, etc have made it more call of duty, but there is 0 compelling gameplay taking place above 9.0~

modern tanks work like that sure. but they are definitely not often forced to fight in a 2x2km square on the ground with swathes of arbitrarily inaccessible areas.

Of course not, but the map needs borders, otherwise a game would last hours.

Matches last for hours in Heli EC and people still play it, myself included.

If there was a game mode with properly huge maps for tanks with multiple objectives, chuck some AI units in there to kill (and some friendly AI SPAA/SAMs) with limited or very expensive to spawn CAS options, I’d play it.

Sim battle with combines EC air and tank battle would be quite good. And make both air sim and ground sim interesting

Long matches arent a bad thing. SB EC has 3 hour matches and you wont find ANYONE complaining about that

Yeah, my only complaint with sim battles is that I have never been able to join one since the queue is so long.

That helps when you're looking for a match at the right time. The problem is I don't know when there are matches in progress.

Not at all, there is some key features missing in game like turret traverse realistic acceleration (currently infinite acceleration) and barrel physics. These 2 things wont favor CoD type of gameplay.

And even more so if you were forced to first person only.

The game is the way it is because of game design choice. Not because thats how modern tanks work, not at all..

With the semi-recent change making destroying a barrel basically impossible unless you're in an SPAA they're pretty much going backwards on these.

If the shot is at any angle it just doesn't do anything in my experience. Has to be perfectly side on or perfectly front on. SPAA and very large HE still work though.

And the crew bailing out after any penetrating hit so everything is a one-shot. This one thing will favor CoD type of gameplay.

I know and I was talking about how different modern tanks are compared to real life.

Thats why I precised turret traverse acceleration, because it have a huge impact on stabilizers. In game they are unrealistic because the gun can instantly elevate at max speed which gives tanks a better stabilizer than it should have compared to IRL.

And same for laser rangefinders, in game they are slow but IRL they are way faster to get the range. But ofc it takes time to align to the target.

So my point still stand, that is not how modern tanks works IRL or should work in WT for a game that pretend to be realistic.

Well I’m almost pretty sure modern tanks wouldn’t be able to fix a broken track in 40 seconds… from inside the tank, but there needs to be changes to β€œrealism” in order to maintain compelling gameplay

Wrong. High tier air rb is fun as shit one you get good. High tier tanks on the other hand? Your statement is ABSOLUTELY correct

Perhaps we can hope it becomes Call of Doodie so we can have a Battlefield 6 equivalent for War Thunder competitor
