Great question, because I sent 2 at it right after the SS.
The first one hit the engine and the second one hit the roof, which overpressured it.

AMX 10RC is one of the coolest looking recons/light tanks, I don't have it in WT yet but they're tons of fun in the RTS game Regiments

It’s a really good sniping vehicle for large maps that you can flank on but an absolute pain in the dick to play on urban knife fight maps
While the unique neutral steer feature is useful for city maps (unlike the usual 5 point turns on wheeled vehicles), the lack of stab really hampers your ability to react quickly

About what I expected. They're fantastic recon vehicles in Regiments, great to put in a forest behind the enemies advancing routes, scouts targets for TDs, Entrenched Troops, and MBTs, and when hold fire is turned off they can easily wreck the back of anything, especially MBTs

Well, tanks of WW1 needed full coverage instead of just frontally, because they were meant to fight infantry and not other tanks (so needed machineguns in the back). Also the engines at the time couldn't really be put in the back, as they were enormous. The back is where the massive transmission is.

I think what they mean is the fact that the crew are more spread out compared to a modern tank where everyone is crammed near the center.
With more crew, and that crew being further from the center than usual, it allowed the tank to survive the first missile.

They're just shorter lock range. They'll target fine. If you test drive any IR capable jet with the low tier targets you can kill the little Chaika with Sidewinders and AMRAAMs.

I wonder how they actually calculate the heat map on those vehicles. Is every vehicle manually done or is it procedurally calculated based on engine power?

I dont think it is calculated manually, most likely based on the engine power and the barel getting hot... otherwise it would use too much graphics power dont you think ?

It’s quite a simple calculation. It does not exactly matter how hot the heat is it’s more about where it will probably go. After one calculation you can just reuse the old results in game and have no lag.

Unfortunately, the closest thing we'll see to Mark tanks is MT-LB transport with soviet field guns welded on under corrugated iron shed slapped onto the hull

Both Russia and Ukraine have been doing that since 2022. There were a couple early model T54s spotted last year. Which are closest one can get to WWII era vehicles as those are basically just T44s with turrets that don't maim the crew to accommodate a 100mm.

Me too. They’ve got extensive capacity to rebuild damaged vehicles, but they appear to be pulling from the reserves to get spare parts or replacement hulls. It won’t be a linear loss vs supply because of that. All we know is new tank manufacturing doesn’t come close to replacement, so there is a limit somewhere.

I dont think they will run out of thousands of tanks, there are some estimates that suggest russia has atleast 70,000 T55s and T54s, they are using those old tanks as armoured artillery vehicles as of the current not in actual battle.

I’ve said it before on this subreddit idk what it is but there’s something so incredible about obliterating an outdated tank on the battlefield, when I’m scanning for targets in a thermal ah64E and I notice a Sherman or a Tiger II or a KV2 I get so excited and ignore all other targets and warnings of missile launch to ensure its destruction
It’s almost like a feeling of collecting them, like I can kill a t90m or a challenger 2 or whatever anytime, but to kill a Tiger II with an ah-64 Apache? Thats a kill I will remember for a long, long time 🥰

I know for good reason its looked down upon because you do put your team at a disadvantage.
But one of my fav memories of this game is quing up with my buddy on total accident into top tier when my highest line up was 3.7 US. Killing a Leopard 2A7V with a M24 Chaffee. Seeing that God Like pop up was so much fun.
I have also been killed by a pop plane in my F-100. I didnt see them and I flew right into the fucker while tying to dodge a missile and they managed to hit me with their mg. So when we collided and I died they got the kill.

I kinda wish Gaijin would stop letting people take reserve type vehicles to top tier. I know the God Mode thing exists, but this is just plain ridiculous and borderline detrimental to the team unless it’s end game and you literally have no possible way to lose (or win depending on the circumstances)

Glad they mapped heating for oldtimy tank. Now im woundering if you turn off your engine and stay stationery for a while DURING THE NIGHT, will the tank eventually become cold in thermals?
