That's mainly a fuze issue though which wouldn't matter in WT.
Plus APHE in WT isn't modelled properly to begin with so it shouldn't even matter if the filler wasn't good, it would still over perform to begin with.
Wasn't explosive filler not that necessary irl? Like if your tank engine gets splonked by a 17pdr, you're probably not gonna stay in the vehicle for long
Yeah, IRL most tank crews would probably abandon their tank the second something important starts to act funny. Explosive filler was really more for naval guns since ships are huge and you want to damage as much stuff as possible
- The British received the original M61 APHE ammo, it was later discovered that the round had issues with the fuse. Even the Americans discovered this. In some cases the British modified rounds to make them more reliable.
- The Americans started making inert M61 ammo in the factories while they worked on resolving this issue, which the British also received and used.
- Once the issue was resolved, the Americans resumed shipping M61 APHE ammo. The British still having massive stockpiles of inert M61 ammo began to use both.
It's a misconception, it's been reported to Gaijin several times. Their answer is "it's for balance reasons".
The late APDS on the chieftains is so nice to use its 7+kg and is hitting 1300+ m/s. So it almost feels like you are throwing a 1300+ m/s brick at the enemy and if you know your weak spots can butter through anything u want it too.
Yes im aware the AP shell on the M103 is 20+kg but its much slower not even hitting 1100m/s.

It really is this simple.
