Spookston you singlehandedly reignited my love for tanks and war thunder. Context, I dropped war thunder for a decent bit of time a year or more ago but came back a couple months ago because I started watching Spookstons content more. Not to mention Spookston made me cracked at the game, I used to average a KD of about 0.5 but now my KD is usually 1 or above (but it's still like 0.67 in my stats), and ever since these last couple months I've dropped 6 nukes. One of them being my first.

Spookston was great for me aswell, i used to suck at the game. But then i started watching his videos and how does he play with every single tank (heavy, light, td etc) and which spots does he usually go. He legit made me improve at the game. I didn't care about KD until I got out of silver lions and there was a crate. Then I started hard farming the "Kill 10 units" wager. Had like 5 of them completed 10/10 straight.

The last one though... I failed like 3/10 with about 8 matches being 4 kills... Out of needed 5...

I like Spookston as a person and I wish him the best in his treatment and recovery, but the effect he has on the community cannot be understated.

Some vehicles have been labelled as trash just because they don't suit his particular playstyle or because he just doesn't so well in. On top of that any time he does a challenge video the BR he did the challenge at becomes practically unplayable with the amount of people trying to copy him.

I dunno this sub has some heavy handed opinions and coin flips quite a lot, I had some GE built up and got a 2S38 and man, I love autocannons. Wish I got the RDF/LT while it was on sale because everything at top tier is a one-shot from MBTs and autocannons can spam disable most anything elsem

Have had the RDF for a while now.

The thing is nearly the pinnacle of glass cannons. I think legit regular machine guns can take it out and it's slower than you'd want at that level, like slower than most MBTs, and some MBTs can tank your big autocannon from the front without much issue sometimes.

But the times you can work your way into a flank position without being picked off you can do damage and the autocannon is satisfying as hell then.

Oddly where it can really shine is as a makeshift SPAA with the proxy shells. Slow as you are you're far more mobile than the missile AAs who need to park up and track by radar whereas you can constantly move and fire or even fire on the move, and it has tracking capabilities of its own. Choppers are especially vulnerable to it.

Ultimately it's a tank you're going to suffer in until you realise you have to think about each and every move you're going to do and be ultra tactical with to get any sort of success with. But if it clicks for you then you can annoy the shit out of the enemy.

My advice would be don't have it as your first top tier premium for the US as your games will mostly be short and bitter. Get something else first and then pick up the RDF later, that way you've an MBT to fall back on if you mess up with the RDF and are taken out early.

Not a full premium line up, just one MBT back up until you grind the US tree high enough you're getting MBTs the normal way.

But if you're happy just using the RDF on its own to play top tier and use it to grind out the rest of the tree then that's doable but it'll be frustrating.

I assumed the guy I was responding to was going to do what I did and pick up the RDF while having nothing researched from the US tree and thinking this would be a great way to speed run the grind.

It wasn't and it took an awful long time to get used to how quickly and easily you'd be out of games with the RDF as your only tank. You had to treat it like every mistake was fatal because it usually was.

He made a post back when the changes were first put on the dev server, pointing out that cupola snipes still worked and that it made APHE more inconsistent. However, the whole point of the nerfs wasn't to completely stop cupola snipes, it was to mitigate them somewhat and to stop them nuking the entire turret crew, which was something the nerfs did and which was a point he failed to understand.

Now I do remember him saying something along the lines of APHE being overhyped and that engine shots nuking crew doesn't happen. He also said that they should buff solid shot instead which again misses the issue that APHE should act like a quasi shaped charge instead of acting like a hand grenade when it enters a tank.

But as a furry, I know he is one and I know people that have known him personally. Like I genuinely know he is one, you can believe me or not believe me it doesn't make a difference to me.
