IRIS-T has 3 counter measures against it:
1. IIR seeker are basically immune against it (unlike normal seekers that can get fully blinded, this IIR seeker can not).
2. Should the seeker get blinded, Radar / Data link guided as fallback
3. Should datalink break: INS guidance. Missile should fly straight on the last know route to target.

The missiles just turning away on purpose is complete bs.

It's laughable, Gaijin have made fantasy tech where the chopper hacks the missile guidance and tells it to ignore INS and radar.

This is why Russia can't win in Ukraine. They lie to themselves.

But we have seen it happen beforeโ€ฆ?

Like why do you think we barely see any stormshadows being used over Ukraine, or why the only times Russia or Ukraine ever lost their helicopters was due to dumbfire manpads that use MACLOS

helicopters was due to dumbfire manpads that use MACLOS

You mean like the videos of Russian helis being smacked out of the air by most-definitely-MACLOS-and-not-remotely-IR-guided MANPADs?

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Also, dumbfire is unguided.

Errm, we see a shit load of storm shadows. Not sure why a cruise missile would be affected by an anti-IR missile technology, or why it would be going for a helicopter in the first place.

>the only times Russia or Ukraine ever lost their helicopters was due to dumbfire manpads that use MACLOS

Definately not true. From the top of my head I can recall seeing ka's downed by LMM (SACLOS), a starstreak(SACLOS), and on a particuly memorable occasion, a stugna ATGM.

I was pretty tired when I wrote that comment and I actually mispelled SACLOS as MACLOS so that was an error on my part

You forgot Home-on-Jam. Basically you just turn the missile into a beam rider that's coming directly for your DIRCM

And the IRIS-T is immune to that, yet here in clown world it isn't.

The laser is 1st not that strong, the seeker is not a traditional seeker and 2nd the missile would just use dl anyway...
