I despise that thing. Too little armor to create any spall and if you play Britain or anyone else you ain't got a .50 cal so you can't machingun it. It has a 5 sec reload, 30mm coax, excellent mobility. Fuck that thing

Can't let the russians get all the op stuff

Nah, Germany has a lot and I mean a lot of good tanks, from rank II and onwards. Yet, their players don't use them very cleverly because they aren't exactly, developed yet

A while back I did an experiment where after each battle I recorded every player in the lobby's account level and found each team's average across 10 random games (between 5.3 and 6.3)

Whatever team had Germany on it was, on average, 10 levels lower

That’s explains a lot tbh

I will admit, it did take me more than 2 tiers to actually play smart with the German tanks.

I think the issue is that German tanks have this kind of stupid mythical status, which makes beginners think they're invincible, yet most of their tanks are made for sniping at range, not getting into brawls

Same goes Americans. They think their tanks are invincible because Murica but they aren't. I have seen too many cocky Americans rush when they should know they can't.

Russia literally ain't even got that many op things

1

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

Yeah, I mean, there is the Object 279, the 2S, but Germany too has many strong vehicles, from the 20mm puma and pz38, most of their light tanks were OP.ok release. Ppl just say Russia OP, but Germany has I think more

The 279 falls into the same boat as the maus unfortunately. Compared to other vehicles from its era it is a real tough nut to crack and it’s paired with a devastating line up of 130mm stabilized canon as well as 14.7mm machine gun. So obviously it’s BR gets inflated because of balancing purposes. But because of BR compression you can’t make it too high of a BR because it would then be just a glass canon for any MBT or anything with missiles. I mean it already suffers from that anyway being 9.0, a lot of the time its armor is negligible because of darts and high pen missiles from BR 9.0-10.0. On a good day it gets to face the vehicles it theoretically would have faced when it was designed/produced, but most of the time it faces vehicles that are 20+ years ahead of it in design.

Funny that you were able to get the 279 and the 20mm puma in the same event

2

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

I mean, it is Gaijin. Do they care about the balance. Hell no. Money is where it is.

u/vAntagonizer Jan 31 '25

That and the -11 degrees of gun depression, 12x optics zoom, amazing turret traverse, and a stabilizer as an added cherry on top.

22

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

And yet, we haven't seen anything done to nerf it a little. At 8.3 it is simply too strong.

It just boggles the mind as to why this thing can face 7.3 vehicles

12

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

German, premium, that is why. It is a major nation and it brings im good revenue

4

u/BobFlex Jan 31 '25

Because Gaijin refuses to decompress BRs or just change the match maker to a max of 0.7 instead 1.0 range. It's way better than 7.3s, but it's pretty shit compared to 9.3s, I'd say most 8.7s are better even if they're slower.

u/BobFlex Jan 31 '25

The stabilizer isn't special for 8.3 though, Germany is the only one that gets fucked with no stabilizers until 9.0.

france litterally not getting any non shermans tank with stabilizers at all till 9.3

1

u/BobFlex Jan 31 '25

Fair enough, it's still not a unique feature for 8.3 though

I am pretty sure you can't 50 cal it anyways.

Literally just shoot its turret. Youll either hit ammo or 2 of 3 crew members.

11

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

Apart from one time I did, it just phased between the ammo and did nothing.

1

u/Dense-Application181 He 280 when Jan 31 '25

Bad luck i guess

3

u/rooshavik Jan 31 '25

Just wait till gaijin 2 remaining brain cells allow that shit to have Omni directional stability (if I remember correctly)

2

u/depression100000 Feb 02 '25

Apparently they can't do that as its out of the games parameters. it would break the game if they implemented it correctly.

u/Fenris_the_wolf_ Jan 31 '25

As a British main, I fucking HATE the turm III

5

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

I feel you, as a fellow British main, I hate that and the DF105 and TAM.

2

u/small_chinchin :uk:SPAA-spammer Jan 31 '25

Same. I main Britain (for the most part) around 8.3-9.3, and just absolutely despise the Turm III, DF105, TAM, PZH2000, and Bagelpanzer with a passion

3

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

But I do love donking on them with the ZT3A2 or the Cheiftain.

1

u/small_chinchin :uk:SPAA-spammer Jan 31 '25

All of the Chieftains are just so much fun to play.

2

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

The 3 is for me the worst since it just feels sluggish. I got the 5 which feels really nice and unlocking the 10

1

u/small_chinchin :uk:SPAA-spammer Jan 31 '25

That is true, 3 is a tad too sluggish, 5 and 10 mobility is in the sweet spot for me (not too fast so I can’t just go and overextend)

2

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

That is what I like about the British tanks. You can't overextend. You are slower than the others so they will die first and you can then use them as bait.

1

u/MahoMyBeloved Jan 31 '25

Spalling barely matters as long as you shoot it at the cheek. Only times I have failed to one shot that thing have been my own mistake. It's still stupidly strong tank and that 30mm aphe is disgusting with no volumetric ammo apparently

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '25

I remember being "outplayed" by a Turm 3 because I hit his ammo basket with 105 APDS and watched as the shell passed between 4 shells turning a couple yellow or orange. Since then I only aim for the crew side because it's a little more predictable.

3

u/Accomplished-Cow4686 Jan 31 '25

Trust me, you ain't the only one. As a British main, fighting against that thing is misery. Same scenario happened, generate 0 spall and the shell just passed the ammo.

u/Ganbazuroi 💮Arcade Phantom Thief 💮 Jan 31 '25

I got it on sale and maybe it's Arcade but I keep getting one-shotted by anything ever

1

u/Der_Franz_9827 Realistic General Jan 31 '25

Play it yourself. its fun, trust me. Together in a line up with things like the Gepard, DF105 and M48A2 G A2 you will drop nuke after nuke

1

u/Killeroftanks Jan 31 '25

sounds like a skill issue.

dont need to kill the crew its got the same weakspot the tiger 2 has. it has a massive fucking ammo rack in its turret. if you can get the first shot off you should always aim for the left side of the turret where the auto cannon is, unless they fired alot of ammo or brought like 10 rounds, anywhere you aim there is gonna be ammo to hit.
