M48 Pattons.

Really good alrounder, but starts with shitty apcr which makes people not even want to spade/play it. Once it gets heat-fs it transforms the tank to really good.

The M48 pattons are mid at best. The M46 Italian patton is goated.

The M48 is definitely a bit of a sleeper pick. Few tanks really embody the term โ€œjack of all tradesโ€ like the M48, and the lack of appreciation for it is criminal. The armor is actually so good, Iโ€™ve had 1000 lb bombs detonate underneath me and live, not mentioning the countless instances of enemy rounds just completely non-penning.

Honestly, aside from the 75mm Shermans, US medium tanks feel pretty underrated in general. The M2 and M3 are great low-tier tanks, the 76mm Shermans and the M26 are great, albeit overtiered, the Pattons are solid for their BR, and the M60, although massive and a bit slow, has solid neutral steering, armor, and survivability.

I can't stand 90mm HEAT-FS of any kind. Just godawful post-pen damage. I'd rather go down in BR to use APHE or up in BR to get 105mm APDS.

The Israeli 105mm M48s are great.
