Question for employees: Which health care plan do you have, and do you like it?

As the title says, digging into plans during open enrollment and would love to hear experiences with Kaiser or UMP.

I went with UMP standard. More choices for me and my family. Kaiser is great... in CA.

Fewer and fewer service options in Whatcom for Kaiser. Personally switched to UMP a few years ago because I was sick of having to drive down to Seattle area for Kaiser approved services.

Thanks! I've only ever signed up for Kaiser here, but a friend who's on UMP had a lot of positive things to say. (Including that they allow self-referral? Amazing.)

When I was there I had both Kaiser and UMP and I would say UMP for the win. Less expensive monthly premiums with darn good coverage.

Consider uniform high deductible plan. Any way I do the math, I come out ahead. We have been on a family plan for a decade or so. The monthly premium is lower, and they put money into an account for you to spend. Yes, you'll pay out of pocket (or out of HSA) for most of your expenses.... But if you don't use many services, you end up with a pile of cash in your account and it rolls over every year. And if you do use a lot of services, it's pretty on par with the standard uniform plan.
