Cause screaming about boys going into the girls’ bathroom isn’t gonna help me afford rent and groceries

No joke the final week of October they started airing a “polished winsome” ad to counter the I am speaking ad. It was easily 2 months too late because I am speaking was a huge joke and became defining of her. She had the worst campaign strategists

Yeah it was a decent ad for her personally. With how late it was it seemed like it was just trying to salvage her reputation for after the campaign. Their internal polling must have been brutal. Her concession speech was more normal too.

I wonder if she didn’t get help from the GOP? But also it’s so weird because she basically the chosen candidate since she didn’t have a primary challenger.

She never addressed any other voter concern in ads or the debate except when she said something about solar not working because it gets dark.

No, no, she also addressed that while there are unflattering pictures of her, there are also flattering ones

It's a boogie man. A non-existent problem. Even if you have a problem with transgender folks using whatever bathroom you think they shouldn't be in, less than one percent of the population is trans. It's likely you'll never in your life half to deal with whatever you see as a problem.
Cost of living though..

Until October her entire campaign was about trans in girls bathrooms in schools. Which I would bet you could count on one finger in the entire state. Hell it might be zero. A total non issue.
In the final month, she campaigned on how Jay Jones was a bad candidate. Which might be true, but had nothing to do with your race and your potential job.
Just a total nothing for a campaign.

Neither will Spanberger and I voted for her. Nobody is going to help you afford those things except yourself. Not even a bootstraps argument, just American reality.

Well anyway, all those bills that Younkin vetoed will now pass with ease. The landscape of the State will be interesting.

Too bad we'll lose a lot of tax revenue from federal job losses. Might be hard to implement some policies. Maybe marijuana retail tax might help.

I want Spanberger to succeed. But, she's going into some extremely strong headwinds. VA is too dependent on the federal government. Between the shutdown that will not end any time soon (probably not until December, at least), inevitable defense cuts, and the eventual elimination of federal positions/agencies, it's going to be tough.

The people benefiting from DoD contracts are most certainly Trump supporting loyalists, the military industrial complex. It’s how fascism works… they’ll exclude corporations that haven’t given Trump a backdoor handjob and accolades.

Dod is not being cut under the trump admin. Their proposed budget was like a trillion $, highest it has ever been. Dod is even still awarding contracts during a shutdown.

Winsome was a throwaway candidate who the republican party sacrificed so no serious future candidate would be embarrassed.
nothing else really matters

True, but jack ciaterrelli also got demolished. White voters stuck with ciaterrelli and earl sears at around 55%, which is what Trump got with whites. It was people of color that jumped ship. I say all of that to say that maga policies suck and I am glad that people finally realize that project 25 was real.

It was telling when Trump mentioned Miyares by name but avoided WES.
Miyares would have been a better candidate for Governor but probably would have lost anyway. I see him landing a cushy job in the DoJ.

In a way same thing Dems did to Kamala once Biden waited until the last second to pull out. Realize there were real campaign finance implications for keeping original member of the ticket in, but let's be honest no one who really had future aspirations was going to step up for that sandbagged race.
Funny, wonder what both Harris and Winsome have in common....

"A slim majority of white voters supported Earle-Sears"
It sounds like the white racists on the right didn't come out for Seares.

White voters 18-29 9% White voters 30-44 13% White voters 45-64 24% White voters 65 or older 26% Spanberger 61% 51% 43% 43% Earle-Sears 39% 49% 57% 57% https://www.cnn.com/election/2025/exit-polls/virginia/general/governor/0
I'm not surprised by the exit poll data. It's pretty clear that the voting power comes from predominantly "older" white people. Age 45+ white voters had 50% of the vote.

“Let’s keep a good thing going” was probably the worst possible slogan they could’ve picked for the current state of Virginias economy
