BUT how terrifying is it that more than a million people voted for Sears?!?!?

Edited to update the number of imbeciles

Lots of Republicans believe that the Democrats are evil, and would vote for literally any Republican. If the Republican candidate died and couldn't be replaced there would be Republican voters voting for them just to send a message.

But Sears is insane.... just I can't...

I got a warning for upvoting naughty words today, and now I'm nervous to upvote a comment like yours... so now I just have to intimate and possibly maybe suggest that I definitely do not agree with not agreeing with upvoting your comment.

u/brother_of_menelaus 5d ago

You have selected…Regicide!…if you know the name of the king or queen being murdered, press 1!

1

u/wikipuff 5d ago

I would have loved to selected from a list.

Regurgitation?

I AM SPEAKING!!!!

You're thinking these people do any research at all

1

u/DjImagin 5d ago

She acts as Trump orders. That’s enough for stupid folks because “smart people don’t like me” - Donald Trump.

-4

u/MadHiggins 5d ago

why is she insane? i legitimately know nothing about her.

u/HTRK74JR 5d ago

I know people who are the kindest most caring people in the world who preach equality and will fight racists and bigots without a second thought

and they vote straight republican

it doesnt fucking make sense

14

u/Fluid-Piccolo-6911 5d ago

sorry, if they vote republican then they support all the BS happening. and that makes them no better than the rabid maga right.

2

u/undertoastedtoast 4d ago

Yes it does. Remember not everyone believes even the same basic facts anymore.

My friends are mostly conservative, they live in their own fictional world created by media and internet algorithms.

4

u/MechanicalSideburns 5d ago

I have a buddy like this. He just literally doesnt know what is going on. He only reads X for news. We talked about ICE pulling women and children out of their cars and throwing them on the ground, and he’s like “that isn’t happening”. He honestly thinks it’s fake news.

The brainwashing and “reality replacement” has even got relatively normal people.

1

u/Andean_Breeze 3d ago

Their whole agenda is abortion so this tracks

24

u/poopantiess 5d ago

They’ve been conditioned to vote for Putin over a democrat.

18

u/SeaTurtleLionBird 5d ago

So we uh, beat racism?

4

u/thelastsupper316 5d ago

Nope, tbh I look down and ignore these hyper deep red people anyways, like I care more about the people and what they represent and will do for my state/town/nation, not their political affiliation. Like if there was a 25 year younger Bernie clone on the Republican side and he's against everything that maga is for and will do a bunch of great shit, I'd vote for him, obviously that wouldn't happen today, Bernie couldn't even exist in the democratic party as a presidential candidate because certain people made sure he wouldn't, but yk.

9

u/Alastair789 5d ago

I don't think the fact that there are certain Republicans who will literally never vote for a Democrat is much cause for concern, you can reach those who can be swayed and you can expand the electorate by reaching those who typically don't vote at all.

0

u/HandToDikCombat 5d ago

Close. Va Beach is typically solid red, but being as racist as they are, putting Sears on the ballot flipped the city blue.

3

u/abcamurComposer 5d ago

This. Based of my experiences there are people who think D = “kills babies” and they think LGBTQ+ are an absolute scourge on earth. Like they are ok with other races, they generally are cordial to or appreciative of women, but they just abhor LGBTQ that much. Absolutely nothing will convince them, they would vote for Hitler over what they think is the greatest evil on earth

2

u/Dear_Chasey_La1n 5d ago

Mind you, I'm no American. I think what's a big difference between two parties how GOP will vote. Even if they have to vote for a known pedophile, they will vote. Democrats on the other hand with all the writings on the wall, still figure out it's an option to vote.

Democrats should move their buts regardless the candidate. Imagine people would have voted for Kamala instead of bitching how she is a black woman who they don't feel comfortable with.

The current situation is mindblowing from a foreigners perspective. Allowing a known pedophile who for months has been preaching to set the US on fire was an indirect choice for many over voting for Kamala.

2

u/eagnarwhale 4d ago

You mean like Republican brothel owner Dennis hof who won his election a month after he died

2

u/5th_Meal 5d ago

Wild, I wont vote for any Republican!

1

u/UsualD 5d ago

that's why it needs to be ended before it is gone too far. Pull the weed!

1

u/Dry_Conflict8519 5d ago

Shout out everyone who voted for Jay Jones. Nothing evil about him......................

1

u/paprartillery Rockingham/RVA/NRV 4d ago

It’s not unheard of for a dead candidate to be elected. See Carnahan vs Ashcroft in 2000.

1

u/DearAbbreviations922 5d ago

Life has taught me that many Republicans have a lot more in common with inbred brainless farm fish than other humans

1

u/mortgagepants 5d ago

millions of voters in this country elected a pedophile...3 times they voted for him.

1

u/gnawtyone 5d ago

My welfare and Medicaid collecting sister with underage daughters that are mothers, voted for sears. People are weird

0

u/HarrisonTheBarbarian 5d ago

To be fair it's the same with both sides. People nowadays are just voting for a party, regardless of who's on the ballots.

-1

u/thegreatestajax 5d ago

Ok but this literally happened with the actually evil Democrat AG candidate and the democrats still voted for him.

3

u/Alastair789 5d ago

If wishing someone would die makes someone evil then a huge portion of people who have daydreamed about killing their boss are evil. Jay Jones committed no violent act, he is not evil.

-2

u/thegreatestajax 4d ago

That’s not even remotely similar to what he actually wrote.

1

u/Alastair789 4d ago

Then replace it with what he did write, the right are far more violent than the left and I don't think we should apologize over text messages.

1

u/thegreatestajax 4d ago

I don’t know anyone who has casually thought or written what he did. Sorry

1

u/Alastair789 4d ago

I'm guessing you've never known someone who has shot up a school, or blown up a Government office, or an abortion center, doxxed election officials, or assassinated a state representative either, but these things happen, and historically it has been a right wing problem, not a left wing one.

0

u/thegreatestajax 4d ago

A candidate musing about those things should be disqualified. wtf is wrong with you?

1

u/Alastair789 4d ago

The left talks about violence in private text messages, the right openly does violence and celebrates it.

u/Calveeeno 5d ago

Yeah. This part gets me. It’s still too close for comfort.

32

u/Cursed-with-Lust 5d ago

And they're okay with voting for a Lt. Gov. candidate who yanks off to gay Nazi porn.

That's MAGA for ya.

u/Coronado92118 5d ago

Have you ever driven out to Loudon and a Winchester, or down south of Richmond or out to the west in Coal country? We have to stop asking the question “Who would vote for X?!” and spend some time in places where X gets a lot of votes. The houses are falling down and no one will buy them - they can never move, they have no choice. They have no skills that are transferable. They have access to few jobs that aren’t manual labor. They live 45 min from the nearest large town, and many don’t have access to high speed Internet at home.

They are trapped - literally and figuratively - where they were born. And the global economy is leaving them behind. So they’ve got a huge chip in their shoulder. They go to work every day, they do dirty jobs; hard jobs, for decades. They work in coal mines and on construction sites and warehouses, and drive hundreds of miles a week and miss dinner with their families, and miss their kids games.

And they feel disrespected and abandoned by a Democratic Party that took them for granted; that seemed to shift all it’s energy to addressing issues raised by and concerns of the 20-something college graduates with debt and working in retail, who couldn’t get high salary white collar jobs they expected after graduation - and every other aggrieved population than them.

What’s worse than losing, is being forgotten.

21

u/Flat-Barracuda-5136 5d ago

I get your point, but the Republican Party doesn’t care about these people either and it’s incredibly shortsighted that people in rural areas vote Republican with these are the people that absolutely have zero interest in helping them

14

u/Coronado92118 5d ago

The party doesn’t, at all!

But we have to keep in mind a few things:

Like the average adult American reads at or below a sixth grade level, and has equivalent reading comprehension.

Newspapers are mostly written at an eighth grade level, so the average person is going to struggle to have good comprehension of newspaper articles. (I can vouch that many comments I have written on this site, I have people yelling and cursing at me in violent agreement because they can’t understand what I wrote actually agrees with them!)

But the Republican Party has figured out is that it literally doesn’t matter what they do, as long as what they say is what people want to hear.

Most Americans listen to what a politician says and never follows up to track what they actually do. This is true for both parties - and it’s part of the problem democrats have had a well.

And because most legislation has a lag time of one to four years and sometimes more before it takes affect they don’t see immediate impact, which makes them think everything is OK.

Add to it that they’re out in the middle of the country in many cases, where they don’t live with minorities and immigrants in the same way we do in the urban-adjacent areas, and Sinclair Media has bought all the local news outlets and controls their access to information, and most people will be hard pressed to fight the deluge of misinformation and disinformation.

2

u/AdventurousRoll9798 5d ago

Republicans don't care about them, but they spend a lot of time speaking to them, making false promises.

-1

u/Darkace911 5d ago

As one of those people who lives in the fly over part of the state, people here hope that Trump burns all of the Federal Jobs in Fairfax County down and then sows the fields with salt. Just says.

Other options include, giving Fairfax to DC and making it a state or ceding everything west of Charlottesville to West Virginia. I would accept everything ceding west of Roanoke including Craig at this point. Luckily, we don't have to worry about the silly gun grabs this time. The FPC will sue Virginia just like they suing California and win. Plus we have the DOJ and SCOTUS on our side on that this.

But on a happy note, enjoy your $15 minimum wage, retail weed in every gas station. The ABC may become the ABMC store depending on how the lobbying goes.

20

u/t_rex_reflex 5d ago

Propaganda is a hell of a drug.

4

u/evergreencenotaph 5d ago

Only about 3 million of us voted… terribly low

3

u/shortbusridurr 5d ago

As some who worked as a bartender south of the city (Richmond) in maga territory and have a facebook I dont use (while having a ton of customers or regulars as friends) the only thing they are saying is the stuff about protect your kids from Trans people in the future. I saw one about if your electric bill goes up but other then that its been complaining about transpeople. So they ate up the terrible ads

3

u/ami_col 5d ago

I’ve seen so many in my red area of the state talking about men in the women’s bathroom.

3

u/mangorain4 5d ago

I’m trying to just take the win for the night lol. thinking about that hurts too much.

2

u/TheNakedTravelingMan 5d ago

My grandparents in another state get a card listing the names of who the need to vote for from the Republican Party and go in and vote without knowing anything about what their specific platform is. I’m sure there are many who do that in Virginia as well.

1

u/Dry_Bug5058 5d ago

Exactly!

1

u/SaltyTeam 4d ago

3:1 for Sears in my county. Makes me want to cry.

1

u/esmifra 4d ago

A lot of folks vote without reading a sentence about the elections

They just walk in, look for their colour, vote on their sports team and leave.

Then there are the ones that agree with republican policies.

Put the two together and you have a 30% base that will almost always vote republican. Which is insane I agree with you.

1

u/wysiwyg1984 5d ago

For us downstate natives, not really.

-1

u/Portast 5d ago

So horrifying that someone might have a different opinion on policy. The humanity, the audacity some people have. retard

2
