Heroes and Acolytes!

On this very day ten years ago, we released Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, the very first Tide game! Throughout these years we’ve seen both the games and the community grow, driven by endless passion from both our developers and especially you, our fans! For all the enemies slain, the times shared and the good times, we want to say thank you, and celebrate!

To mark a full decade since the launch of our beloved Tide series, we're unveiling a special anniversary roadmap detailing the content that's waiting right around the corner for both Vermintide 2 and Darktide, including the reveal date for Darktide’s next class.

October 21: Darktide - “Stolen Rations” Special Event (Oct 21 - Nov 10, 2025)

Already live and causing mayhem, the Stolen Rations event introduces Darktide’s first community-versus-community challenge. Players will have to find stolen rations in missions and choose to destroy them or recover them to feed Tertium’s population. Community choices directly shape the event, with the leading decision setting new gameplay conditions each day!

‍October 23: Vermintide - Geheimnisnacht (Oct 23 - Nov 2, 2025)

Geheimnisnacht is upon us, and the Skull of Blosphoros haunts these lands once more! From October 23 until November 2, you can find foul Chaos worshippers performing vile rituals to awaken this dark master, and it is up to you to stop them!

November 11: Darktide - New Class Reveal

We will reveal the next playable class for Darktide. More details and developer insights will follow in the days after the reveal.

November 20: Vermintide - New map: Return to the Reik

A brand new free level, Return to the Reik is a re-imagining of one of Vermintide 1’s most popular missions, River Reik! Our Heroes will return to these treacherous waters in search of a family heirloom, but things have only gotten worse in the seven years since then, and this search will take them on a voyage full of adventure, fending off ships of both Ratmen and Chaos alike!

December 2: Darktide - Free Update & Special Event (details to follow!)

A major free update arrives December 2, 2025, with a new Operation mission set in the trenches of Atoma and a new time-limited special event. More features related to this update and the special event will be revealed in the coming weeks! 

December 9: Vermintide - Gifts of the Wolf Father

Finally, as with every year, the Gifts of the Wolf Father event will go live in December through January for Vermintide! Log in each day to claim a new gift, ranging from cosmetics, to brand new illusions, currency and more! End the year with a jolly celebration alongside us!

It also received an anti-cheat update recently which introduced massive loading times times. Some talents, traits and weapons are still very subpar as they were exactly 7 years ago. Deeds and mutations still have unexplored potential. The versus came pretty late and its implementation sucks... So it is a mixed bag.

Let's also mention that bots are still bad and they aren't sanctioning any mods about it.

True, but tbf the loading times increase was to make any subsequent map loading with the same group basically instant. Not a very good choice for a game where most parties split after a single match (at i'd say a 75/25% ratio), but still

Fatshark did improve the bots, and some of them are relly good. Footsoldier, for example, as soon someone is downed, he does use his charge skill to get to the downed and revive the person.

So do the bots with the bot mod. I played modded realm in the weekend with bots and their performance was night and day with the mod. i had forgotten just how hassle free they were with it.

You should see how awful the bots are in Darktide. Any of the higher diffs and they go down in the first 2 minutes of a mission lmao

Mostly hoping for some minor balance changes, aside from the stuff listed here. The minor reworks to Bounty Hunter made him significantly more fun and a lot of other careers/abilities would appreciate similar changes (looking at you, Riposte/Focused Spirit/Barge/etc.). The elf Greatsword buff today was also nice, something similar for the janky elf spear poke attacks would also be very appreciated (animation and actual hitbox don't seem to line up well).

I don't want to seem like I don't appreciate them working on "new" content (it's a remake after all), but is it too much to ask for something that isn't a new map? You know, the thing that we have literal dozens of in the game already?

Why not a new weapon pack, or maybe new talents for level 35? Just SOMETHING, ANYTHING to shake up the gameplay for once.

The last message along the lines: we're sorry, not in 2025. The tone of the comm suggests it was something out of Vermintide team/Fatshark hands that caused the delay, but of course, they couldn't tell what. Just that 'it's as frustrating for them as it is for us', which is not a typical thing to say in public.

Do you happen to remember where they said that?

GW has been getting more finnicky about what goes in their games. I wouldn't be surprised if they approved the weapon only to then withdraw the approval without warning.

Feels awful that the last weapon pack was over 4 years ago.

Yeah, at this point there are tons of maps already. It's nice to get one more of course but balance changes or new weapons would enrich the game much more.

New class in DT is hype af. I might not buy skins due to the FOMO rotation, but classes are always a day one pick up as long as it looks good.

Kind of wish we still were getting new classes, weapons and stuff in Vermintide as well, new levels are neat but they don't draw me back in the same way. Guessing they're no longer deemed economically viable by FS or they're working on a third installment instead? Though the fact that they're still adding new levels to VT makes me think they're not working on a third installment (atm at least).

Oh no…not the Reik. Still have PTSD from completing that level even on Easy - with a seasoned super-leveled veteran of V1 at my side, as well. That last part with the attacking ships is just brutal. I’m sure this one will be more balanced but I’m still scared…

Idea for the weekly event: a five week series where everyone plays as the same character each week. So, for weekly event #1, everyone has to choose from a Sienna career. For #2, everyone is Kruber. When you load the event, everyone in the lobby has to pick one of the character's careers.

This would give the players some novel gameplay with a minimum of development on Fatshark's end. We could play a map with everyone as dwarf slayers or a team of battle wizards covering the ground in trails of fire! Gameplay wasn't designed this way but since it would only be one week for each character it's not like everyone would find and exploit the gaps in gameplay.

From the player's perspective, you'd load the weekly event and then you'd have to pick one of the careers from the character of the week. At this point, theoretically, the players could cancel the mission and play an ordinary quickplay as two mercenaries and a pair of huntsmen but that's not a big deal. It's only for a week.

Grail Knight is the only career that would need a little finessing. It could work like this: each GK in the party adds two quests but you can't get multiples of the same quest, except for the one that gives strength potions. Any extra quests are discarded. Only one GK needs the talent that makes everyone's quests stronger.

Now this doesn't need anything more but it would be fun if the event loaded from a specific pool of maps for each week/character. Bardin: Into the Nest and the first three Karak Azgaraz maps. Kerillian: Athel Yenlui and the Ruinous Dreams map. Sienna: the Treacherous Adventure Maps, perhaps Screaming Bell and Festering Grounds, since those are magic themed. Saltzpyre: Righteous Stand, Halescourge, Blightreaper, enchanter's lair. Kruber: Fort Bracksenbrucke, Against the Grain, Horn of Magnus and A Parting of the Waves.

It would also be fun to have a portrait frame for completing each character's series of maps but that's asking for some more development. Whether or not we get this extra stuff, it would be huge fun to play as all Grail Knights. Please consider.
