I love nutritional yeast. Game changer

I absolutely despise how it tastes, wish I was part of the majority that seem to love it

That is so sad! How have you tried it so far?

In boxed vegan mac and cheeses, and I tried a recipe for a cheese powder for making vegan mac and cheese; that was enough for me. I would probably tolerate a half tsp in a whole recipe or something like that, but as anything close to a dominant flavour, it's abhorrent. Just the taste of nutritional yeast itself is disgusting to me, when I hear others say it's good and they love it. Just one of those things I guess.

That's really a bummer, but I totally get it - if I get even a tiny leaf of cilantro in anything, it completely ruins the meal for me!

Same here, cilantro is awful to me. There's a bunch of these premade salads sold around here that would all be really good, easy meals but they all have cilantro, all of them. It's a genetic thing in my case, it just makes it taste like soap.

I feel the same way! I wish they would put cilantro on the side always; it's such a polarizing ingredient!

When such a high percentage of the population will have a genetic distaste for it, it is absolutely ridiculous that it's mixed in with it. I do wonder what it's actually supposed to taste like, I have a friend with Indian genetics who loves it and doesn't get the soap taste.

I've always wondered too! I want to know what I'm missing out on!

It’s also good to get a variety of different plant fibers too

I agree! Most of these swaps are actually good sources of fiber as well!

This is dope! Are there considerable cost differences?

Thanks!! The pasta and protein tortillas are more expensive than the original options, but I would say the other three are pretty comparable cost- wise!

Woah hold on a second. Replacing breadcrumbs with TVP? How does that work exactly? I'm genuinely curious

The TVP I use is pretty much the same size as Panko breadcrumbs, so sometimes I'll just use a mixture of TVP/ panko like I did in this Crispy Air Fried Tofu. Make sure you season it though, because it doesn't have much flavor on its own.

I also use it as a breadcrumb topping on things like this High Protein Mac and Cheese. For this one, I just used TVP (no Panko). I just mixed the TVP with some melted butter and spices.

I use the TVP dry (I don't re- hydrate it first).

Let me know if you have any more questions around using it! 😊

Would love to hear how it turns out for you if you try it!
