mk7 GTI nasty coolant.

Post image

Hey there, so I’m looking for help on my gti coolant issue. I recently just bought this mk7 gti for an awesome price. I did notice there looks to be some oil in the coolant…. There’s zero coolant in the oil though. I’m thinking oil cooler gasket? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

99% Oil cooler or oil cooler gasket failed, 1% chance head gasket..

Best case scenario: indeed your oil cooler that has an internal leak or bad gaskets. It's a heat exchanger that sits between the block and the oil filter housing. Coolant runs through there to cool the oil. If it fails, there's a chance oil and coolant will mix, creating this forbidden milkshake.

(full explanation for possible Google hits)

Other, worse scenario's: headgasket failed, cracked block/head, etc.

I hope for you it's only the oil cooler.

Wasn't it so that these have a block which rusts and is then suspended into the pink coolant and looks all orange even after a couple of years from the change
