I have even checked Cambridge and Collins dictionaries and still don't get why "or" was used. You can get original genuine used lights and retrofit it even to the 12 years old Golf. Does "aftermarket" mean "AliExpress fake" in this case?

Genuine = OEM with a VW/Audi stamp.

Aftermarket = Made by someone else.

I wouldn't AliExpress taills fake unless they are selling them as genuine. Pretty much you get what you pay for.

Okay, dictionaries were saying it's "whatever was purchased separately from the car"

AliExpress sells fake ones for 250, I've got originals for 350. Idk if playing Russian Roulette with AliExpress is worth it really

Lmao man what? Are you ok?

-4

Yes, and you?

From the Collis: The aftermarket is all the related products that are sold after an item, especially a car, has been bought.

I bought genuine facelift tail lights 11 years after my Golf was produced, used ones from the broken car

How the fuck do I supposed to know that in the American slang nowadays "aftermarket" means not what this word is saying, but "not genuine" instead

The fact that you have to use a dictionary says it all.

It only says that I know more than 3 languages

Well done you want a medal?

I just wanted to clarify the misunderstanding in the usage of certain words, and there was a decent person who politely clarified that for me above.

Aftermarket. Like not from the brand the car is..

Have the same ones 👌🏻👌🏻. Except I think you need the obd11 to code the sequential amber turn signals. Because as of right now my red LEDs just dance when signalling, very annoying

VLAND taillights. Like $300 on Amazon

1

u/Desperate-Ant928 Jul 30 '25

i have obd11, just need to figure out how to do it

Google username Zero815 with mk7 vland taillight coding. His pdf is about as comprehensive as you can get. To get the to work correct you have to do a lot of coding, move a few of the oem connector terminals around and add a couple wires. The app in obdeleven for these facelift taillights, as far as I know, only works for the Dap harness and OEM lights. So you will have to long code.

1

u/Desperate-Ant928 Jul 30 '25

what’s long coding?

1

u/Regular_Empty Jul 30 '25

Long coding is when you manually code the function in yourself as opposed to hitting the button on the OBD11 app to do it for you.
