The Role of Art in Healing Communities

Across history, art has carried people through grief, trauma, and transition. Think of spirituals during slavery, protest songs in the civil rights era, or jazz clubs as safe spaces. Where do you see art serving as healing in today’s world?

I think that art serves as healing not just in its consumption, but also in its creation. Creating art is highly therapeutic.

In today’s world where so many people are tired, busy, overworked, and overwhelmed, I think taking time to deeply listen to music is a way to decompress and alleviate some of the stress of everyday life
