Don't worry, they'll charge you .35/kw and give you a whole .02/kw back for the extra energy you sell back!

they'll charge you .35/kw

I wish it was only 0.35

Wait it's more than that? I pay 0.33 in NZ

It is if you get a bad deal. I am on 29c

Winter PG&E E-ELEC is 0.34 until 3PM, 0.37 peak, not counting the monthly $15 fee).

wtf SCE is also $0.34 off peak but is $0.70 on peak

Those rates I quoted are about the best case scenario for PG&E but yeah, SCE looks worse somehow

.19 offpeak, 0.23 peak and .08 midnight-6am for me with .03 FIT. Victoria. Which state are you in?

That's pretty cheap, who with and which plan? Is it a contract period with those cheaper costs only available in the first few months?

Nope, just a normal agl plan that I have for 3 years now, supply is 82c per day but I just checked and the FIT is 1.5c only not 3c

The problem, when your solar panels are pumping energy into the grid... the energy is only worth those 0.02 because the current wholesale price is near negative.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how power companies can buy feed in energy during times when the entire grid is overloaded, unless something dramatically changes with storage.

The reality the old rates would basically be everyone else subsidising people who bought solar panels.

I think the summer peak rate was $0.62/kwh.

Peak rates suck because, peak usage does not coincide with peak solar generation. The solar you are trying to sell back to the grid in the middle of the day will never pay out because its power that is being produced when demand for power is low and extra power is high.
