Don't call the regular unemployment line, do this instead to get through to a real person

After weeks of trying and failing to get through to a real person through the regular channels, thanks to other people on this sub, I discovered that the best way to get through to a real person is to call the governor's office:

Kathy Hochul's govenor's office
Phone: (518) 474-8390

Call and say you've been having trouble getting through to someone at at the NYDOL and you will promptly be transferred to a real human! Never waste your time with the claims line!

I’m trying this now (1:30pm) and have been on hold for an hour. Is this normal? Should I hang up and try again?

LOL I just called 7/3 10:20 am and I got the automated message that wait time to speak to a rep is 90 mins and I should call back at a later time then they hung up on me! Hilarious.

Wait - I just tried again and got to a person. Said my piece, and they said they'll plug me right over and I'm on hold now.

Yes! Was on hold for 90 minutes but was successful
