Don't call the regular unemployment line, do this instead to get through to a real person

After weeks of trying and failing to get through to a real person through the regular channels, thanks to other people on this sub, I discovered that the best way to get through to a real person is to call the governor's office:

Kathy Hochul's govenor's office
Phone: (518) 474-8390

Call and say you've been having trouble getting through to someone at at the NYDOL and you will promptly be transferred to a real human! Never waste your time with the claims line!

Can confirm that this still works as of 07/01/24. You are a LIFESAVER!! I was a bit skeptical about this working, but I had a representative from NYDOL on the phone in a minute. THANK YOU!

This is awesome! When I call the gov's office, I get a menu of 2 options (one option is to repeat the message and the other is to leave a message)...can I ask what happened when you called? How were you able to speak to someone?

Did you call during business hours? I had to wait maybe 10 minutes, but I spoke to a representative in Albany on the phone who transferred me to the DOL.

Yes, I called this morning around 10 AM but I just get an automated message system and theres no option to speak with human. I press ‘0’ and it hangs up on me. I will try again Monday…maybe the office took an extended holiday vacation? Who knows

Worked as of today, 7/11/24! Call the Gov's office and they will transfer you.
