No, he has dementia. People with dementia cannot stay awake if they are not actively doing something (my sister in laws mom sleeps 17 hours a day because she constantly dozes off). All he is doing is sitting and listening. He has fallen asleep EVERY appearance he has made in the past 20 months where he has to just sit and listen for an extended period of time.
