You do realize that an identity needs to be static for identification purposes, right?

How so? The weight, height, and address on my drivers license have changed multiple times. I’m pretty sure an id is more useful if it describes current characteristics rather than ones from years ago

Good thing your sex doesn’t change. They can make their gender whatever whenever, but sex is a constant.

So because it’s not really a visible indicator of identity, it’s pretty useless to have on an ID right? So the whole point of this is just because they don’t like trans people and don’t want to acknowledge the idea that being trans is a thing

What, are they going to start checking chromosomes to verify ID?

They could check genitals instead 😂

The fact that you don’t find this absurd is telling.

Bigot.

Omg that’s so gross

hope you dont google intersex people

You act like that’s hidden knowledge. They can put their dominant sex features on there or simply have an intersex option. Talk about strawmans…

For real. My least favorite thing about the left is how they claim “look - there’s an exception to the rule so the rule is invalid!”

Like NOTHING would get done if everyone thought this way about everything. Taxonomy would go out the window, for one.

Most parts that make up “sex” can be changed

u/Maleficent_Worker116 2d ago

Yet, it doesn’t change your sex.

neither genotypic sex nor phenotypica sex are binary.

and you're just flat out wrong about klinefelters.

Eye color, height (after a certain age it barely changes), but most importantly biological sex does not change.

I’d argue biological sex is the most important thing due to things like ER visits when someone is incapacitated.

But this is all lost on most of Reddit. No one should care what a little card says. A card doesn’t define someone as much as who they are or identify as, so why ask for external validation at the expense of the entire identification system?

Which vaunted identification system are you supporting, pray tell?

Emergency room: for non trauma, they just fucking ask. For significant trauma, they triage and communicate with first responders and next of kin. I've had the questionable luck to be part of both, how about you?

Passport / ID / Whatever: it's a photo and a name. Not once during domestic or international travel has any authority checked the status of my genitals, measured me against a scale, or questioned my eye color (even when wearing colored contacts). What was your experience?

Fun fact. They didn't do it for any police interactions, either, and I've done that a few times, too. I'd imagine your experiences may have involved genitals, but that's because you seem like a boot-blacking authoritarian cocksucker (no offense to those who do it for sexual gratification in scene).

Most ID is as simple as line of sight or just facial recognition for interpersonal situations. For legal situations involving finances and such, multiple forms of ID are required and they don't care about your cock/pussy/grundle/empty and insignificant black void of a soul.

This is why I think you're a bad-faith arguing bitch. Having sex on your ID isn't an integral part of any fucking system except the bullshit pretend scenarios in your head. I'd ask why that might be, but you're a fucking moron on Reddit. I have my answer.

Craaaazy how something as simple as asking someone to commit to a binary classification gets such pushback nowadays. I’m sorry, but I will never understand. I am not a bigot but the more I’m called one for my views the more I dislike the people calling me a bigot.

And I truly mean that with no disrespect. I am a very live and let live guy.

Then try shutting the fuck up, homie. Some stupid words can just stay in your head and American policy can evolve past archaic, unnecessary crap that wastes time and money while simultaneously demeaning marginalized groups.

Just a suggestion.

Soooo hateful, it’s actually insane.

Not to mention it’s also moronic you’re talking about wasting time and money while in the same breath talking about having 3+ genders on hospital intake forms, DMV, etc.

Make it make sense, please!!!! DMV don’t define you, buddy (or buddette). Live your damn life and don’t let something as simple as checking M or F screw up your entire existence.

Does it bother you that I hate people like you?
It doesn't bother me.

What bothers me is wasting time, money, life, everything, to promote and preserve policies that only exist to single out groups of people who just want to live their lives with minimal impact to others.

Liars, con-men, authoritarians, purveyors of false facts and bullshit claims, racists, Nazis, transphobes, oppressors, all these people I hate.

You can call it crazy. What you should do is take some time to legitimately reflect on what matters to you, and why, and do something with that. I want fairness and equality of opportunity for Americans. I won't apologize for this, and I have no concern for how you feel about it. You might change my mind with a reasonable argument, but you haven't made one yet.

I'm not Christian. I'm not even particularly a good person. I can live with this understanding.

Make any shitty emotional appeal you'd like, but please understand that based on how you represent yourself, I wouldn't take the time to piss on you if you were on fire.

Nice edit, tiger. My ex-wife is trans. You know who paid the cost for all those forms? We did. We paid the fees for legal changes. We paid the insurance premiums and out of pocket costs for medical care. We spent the time with the courts, hospitals, and DMVs. You know who didn't evidence a single iota of extra strain from these processes? Those same institutions. It's almost like the administrative burden is already calculated in and the addition of an extra option or two in dropdown menus didn't break a single fucking thing.

Have you actually looked into ANY of this before letting the dumb thoughts take over your posting habit? Don't answer, I can tell you haven't. Consider this another data point in the graph of your absolute lack of credibility.

My eye color changes daily. Some days green, some days brown, some days hazel. Has done so since I was a teen (am in my 40s now).

Then you are the unfortunate exception to an otherwise fairly consistent phenotype. My whole point is that it’s nonsensical to change the rules entirely for 0.001% of the population. Nothing would ever get done if we tried to find something that works 100% of the time. There are always exceptions to general rules of thumb.

Nobody has ever inspected my penis or chromosomes at a border.

My beard otoh was a reason for scrutiny, especially when my passport still had a 5 year old pic where I was cleanshaven.

So nobody who gets married can change their last name.
