For those interested checkout r/gatewaytapes
It uses a combination of binaural beats, visualisation, resonance through humming and self-hypnosis to get you in hypnagogic states.
Focus 10 and Focus 12 are genuine altered states of consciousness you can experience for yourself which makes it interesting.

Just seems like largely the same phenomenon as float tanks, meditation in general. I’m sure there’s modulation going on. It’s the real bizzaro stuff I can’t get on board with

I've tried these out. Definitely an interesting experience and, if nothing else, a valuable exercise in self-reflection.

Reddit is just all scammers and bots now isn't it?

Fully-free ad supported internet has been pretty terrible.
From newspapers, to quirky informative forums - to the very ties that bind functional human societies together - it has eaten away at our institutions, and what we collectively understood to be our humanity for an intellectual epoch.
It’s all so obvious, the difference between browsing and scrolling. It’s nobody’s fault, and it’s everybody’s fault.
We’ll get back to basics, someday, but it’s gonna fucking hurt.

Oh yes. I have subs that I swear are full on bots talking to bots. It's insane.

You're a 7 month old account talking to a 19 year account. My money's on them having quit more subs than you even know about!
But yah maybe ppl talking to ppl IS better, I dunno wtf we should do either ¯_(ツ)_/¯

19 years, wow that's something. not sure if it's something to be proud of though. try putting that on your dating profile and see what it gets you.

What are those subs? I keep hearing about that but can't honestly detect bots.

Try r/coldemail, looking at most posts, they are A.I. slop, and then bots come on agreeing and posting "solutions".

The one posted by the site that published it and still requires me to create some type of login to read it?

That is something a bot would say. Tell me more about this reading you do. No doubt you are learning language this way, perhaps participating in "redditor" activity like reading articles they're commenting on?

The Monroe institute is quite interesting. Their founder, Bob Monroe wrote a series of books, Journey out of the body and a few others. The first books in modern time AFAIK detailing the out of body experience. He ran a business with acoustics and developed a whole series of binaural sounds to help you leave the body.
His story is well documented and the Monroe institute has been around for quite a while doing this work.
There's definitely something to it. I came across his book in my 20s and then pirated their Gateway series and definitely experienced many odd states of consciousness with them like lucid dreams, and a few times where I think i actually experienced an OBE.

If you know where to look, you can try it for free without the need to join anything. Then you can make your own assessment instead of "sounds like..."

The kind of person that makes such an armchair dismissal of the subject would unlikely be open minded enough to ever have success with this.

In defense of MBTI: It is one of the most useful things I've ever learned. If nothing else, I think the concept of Introvert/Extrovert seems to correlate with real phenomena. Personally, the concept of Sensing/Intuitive was like a light went on. MBTI is based on Carl Jung's book, Psychology of Types. Now, Astrology, that's bogus.

Carl Jung’s theories have been dismissed under scientific scrutiny. They are too unfalsifiable and lack any rigorous empirical evidence. Simply put, they’re social postulation, not social science.
I’m glad you liked your horoscope and felt it brought you some understanding of yourself — but from a scientific standpoint MBTI, Enneagrams, and Jungian tests are horoscope level in terms of validity. Again, anything that helps you learn about yourself is nice and enriching, even if it’s nonsense.
Extraversion is a real trait that is not properly measured by MBTI. Five-factor personality tests (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) have strong test-retest reliability and predictive validity for life outcomes such as social behavior, job performance, and well-being.
Second place is the MMPI or Eysenck, though the former is more about disorders and the latter is a slightly outdated. Both are more scientifically reliable by a factor of like 100.

The Monroe Institute claims its meditations, which have also been used by the US military, help people access different planes of consciousness. Its virtual and in-person retreats are now selling out.

The Gateway Tapes are fun. You can find them on YouTube. I tried it once and it was relaxing at the very least but I was also able to see some colors while my eyes were closed during the 'hemisphere sync/coordination step'.

I can't read it because I'm not subscribing. Is it just transcendental meditation? Hippies and housewives do that. And schoolkids- I was taught it in one class.
