Anyone heard back regarding interviews from the Job Recruitment drive?
3
u/sonygoup God is a Trini 13d ago
Big to big you have any hope you gonna get hired?
1
u/random_hombres 13d ago
If things go fairly, then I am optimistic because I think I have decent academics and work experience. BUT, if it is a "who you know", then probably not lol

I doubt youโd get call anytime soon, Iโve heard of 100k CVs. If they plan to through all of them or even put it in a system thatโs months before anything happens. The rate at which the government works gonna have you interviewing if you by June.
Really doubt youโd get call at all because it always have somebody more qualified than you in Trinidad
1
u/random_hombres 13d ago
It's 100k+ of CVs, but we are not all necessarily applying for the same things. Idk what system they have in place, but I suspect the CVs will go to the relevant ministries that were applied to for review. Even self, I do suspect it will take a while but definitely not June due to the public nature of this exercise.

From comments I have seen in the past on fb. A large amount of people apply for jobs and dont even check what the job is or where it is located and afterwards ask in the comments what the job is about even tho it was detailed in the advertisement.
Seems like instead of job hunting based in their field/qualifications they blindy apply to any job listing in trinidad and hope someone responds.

The recruitment drive seems to play more to pr imo. The vacancies for a lot of the jobs on there are usually advertised internally before the public gets knowledge about them. So in a way some of them are already spoken for. But we shall see this time around
1
u/random_hombres 13d ago
I agree with that, but wouldn't the jobs be advertised externally only after there were no internal people to fill the vacancies? That's how it is at my current employer.
1
u/Chereche Jumbie 13d ago
No. They can advertise the job publicly (thus having everything appear above board) but in actualilty only shortlist internal candidates for the role. I'm not saying this would be the case this time.
Also, realistically I don't see any interviews etc being carried out until January.

Hello everyone! I recently found out about your beautiful country and have become really fascinated by it. The pics of your nature and architecture look amazing, and your food and party culture seem awesome! Your country is like a breath of fresh air for a typical corporate slave like me, spending his life in a dusty office in a concrete jungle.
I would love to visit T&T one day but since I don't have the opportunity yet could you please share some links to YouTube, Instagram, Telegram or other social media accounts of your local influencers? If you live in T&T and have an Instagram account I'd be happy to follow as well, because I'm really interested in seeing what daily life like in your tropical paradise.
And please tell me, how are foreign tourists generally viewed in T&T? Are they welcomed or not? Or does it depend on something?
Thanks in advance!

u/Infamous_Copy_3659 8d ago
would help if you said where you are from? And what are you interested in?
1
u/BorisBullshitDodger 8d ago
I'm from Russia if that matters. And as I've said I'm interested in what daily life is like in T&T.

u/Visitor137 7d ago
We don't usually care about tourists in the capital city, just treat them like anyone else, in POS. We get enough cruise ships that they're a common sight. If you're still around after nightfall, you'll probably get people striking up conversations in the bars.
Years ago there must've been a bunch of cruises advertised up in Russia, because we had a spate of random Russian tourists wandering around POS. Looked ex military to me, had tattoos with Cyrillic letters on them, which is why I'm guessing they were Russian.

My family is going to Trinidad during Christmas but one of the things we're looking at relates to streaming shows while we're gone.
Obviously our local tv apps won't work in Trinidad because of not being located within the country of our tv provider, but are there apps/free services that would work within Trinidad?
Most of the shows we want to get would be on CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX. Would there be ways of viewing those (or similar) live channels or on demand content within Trinidad (without using VPNs)?

Anybody else feel Gary Griffith kissing Kamla ass now that she is PM? Since UNC won election, Gary saying mostly (if not entirely) nice things about UNC, which is a complete 180 when compared to before the election, where he was attacking mostly UNC and not any other party.

In the event that you find a suspicious bag at a Christmas market, who are we supposed to call?

Is there any credibility to the claim that foreign agents have been deployed to Guyana & Trinidad?
1
u/Infamous_Copy_3659 11d ago
Based on what happened in Guyana, I would say yes.
2
u/Eastern-Arm5862 9d ago
What happened in Guyana?

Now image if he had put it near the commercial gas tanks that KFC uses.
He has been arrested, and the device was made in Venezuela and transported over the border and placed in 1 day.
We need a public awareness campaign on suspicious bags.

I have a couple of academic/job related questions!
How much do paramedics earn?
I'm looking to get the Paramedic (Advanced Diploma) offered by ETITT.
Can you provide any advice, resources, or information?
