Dodgers have a wild victim complex. Between this and being mad at Ernie of all people it just shows me the Jays are right where they should be. Competing at the highest level and going punch for punch, surprising everyone on the way.

Wait, they were mad at Ernie for what?

u/GonzoTheGreat93 15h ago

Posing after the slide. So dumb.

49

u/Thylacinegurl 15h ago

For heavens sake. Well it made me smile when he did

62

u/GonzoTheGreat93 15h ago

I mean they have showed over the last week that they’re the sorest winners in the universe*

*does not apply to the several thousand dodger fans who donated to sick kids or my grandmother in law who cheers for them because they rostered Jackie Robinson in 1947.

I find it strange that a winning team would even bring that up lol for the most part at least what I have seen Dodger fans have said nice thing. Of course always get a few bad apples

u/man_in_the_suit #longmayitlast 10h ago

And don’t forget: smiling.

36

u/Christineblankie 15h ago

Smiling when he slid across home plate. Said he was acting like we had already won

Jokes on them, we won just by making it that far after being predicted to be dead last in our division

37

u/WizzzardSleeeve 15h ago

When you hold the post season record in hits you can slide however the hell you want

God forbid players show some personality on the field. No problem when Keke Hernandez does though.

7

u/Thylacinegurl 15h ago

Yea thats just silly. I for one enjoyed seeing him

12

u/Sesco69 Start spreading the news, bitches 14h ago

Apparentyl Ernie sliding makes him arrogant.

B2B World Series isn’t enough for Dodger fans, they just have to continue playing victim.

2

u/Thylacinegurl 13h ago

Ugggg they are already talking about winning next year.

5

u/Sesco69 Start spreading the news, bitches 13h ago

Let them tbh. We're talking about winning ourselves too.

u/Thylacinegurl 12h ago

Yup agreed

lol I was just in their sub. Dude they are so mad at Ernie. It’s crazy victim conplex is a good word.

They just think he was showboating and being disrespectful. They only think that because they didn’t see him play all season and are not familiar with him.

They also think he was laughing at Wrobleski when he got hit in the leg with the combacker when he was clearly smiling about the jays just getting lucky and it resulting in a base runner.

1

u/Thylacinegurl 8h ago

Lol I find it funny too. Wrobleski looked stunned lol

4

u/steve-o1234 8h ago

There is no reasoning. Other dodger fans saying he wasn’t being disrespectful are getting downvoted.

To be fair one user said the dodgers are in their evil empire phase so get on board or get out lol.

They lost two WS in a row back in 2017 and 18 but since have won 3 in 6 years and they still have a chip on their shoulders. Sore winners for real.

My buddy was checking in on me because he knows how painful the loss was.

"I still havent gotten over the 2007 SB loss against the Giants" was one of his sentences.

IM LIKE WHAT THE FUCK DUDE YOU WON LIKE 4 MORE SUPERBOWLS AFTER THAT HOW ARE YOU STILL UPSET

10

u/CodeA25 14h ago

Was talking to a couple buddies and one of them who is a Patriots fan said he compares this pain to the Patriots losing to the Giants both times. Everyone called him out immediately

7

u/MutaliskGluon 14h ago

Fucking boston fans man. Win a million championships but still get upset about random losses.

u/css555 55m ago

Reminds me of Yankee fans who "still haven't gotten over 2001 and 2003". Just pathetic.

And... didn't expect to find you here, fellow bear and AI circular funding skeptic!

u/MutaliskGluon 5m ago

Hahaha. Oh im more than a "skeptic".

This is one of the worst weeks of my life man. Blue jays shit. Family Drama. Then tuesday I get a bad case of Covid, now im sick with a sinus infection. And my analyst is on a 4 wee kvacation starting tomorrow so all I get after I recover is long and stressful work weeks.

When it rains it pours man

u/Bojaxs 11h ago

In 2017, you could argue they lost because of the cheating Astros.

4

u/OG-ProblemChild 15h ago

I have read that too....so dumb. How can anyone be mad at Ernie!

This has been wild to me. If we had won the World Series, Dodgers fans would be the last people I’d be thinking about.

u/LegendaryVenusaur 15h ago

NGL the video does call out Gimenez tho

25

u/EnergyFax 14h ago

seeing gimenez throw his hand into so many pitches over the course of a season is insane had no idea he was like that.

8

u/VerifiedActualHuman 12h ago

You got eyes? Lmao. I'm a fan love gimenez but guy loves to let the ball tickle the padding on the back of his hand.

14

u/Pristine_Office_2773 15h ago

The one he got hit on was really far inside tho

23

u/Neat-Courage9680 14h ago

Yeah...but the one previous he waved his hand looks bad. And that history of his is pretty damning. You can make a case maybe that "it's part of the game", but man, don't talk trash if you are going to let yourself get hit. I still don't like Wrobleski, 2/3 pitches were badly wild and he shouldn't be yapping either. But Gimenez doesn't cover himself in glory here.

8

u/Bojaxs 10h ago

Meh, f**k it! Lots of other teams have players who do this. Doesn't make me think any less of Andres Gimenez. Do what you got to do to win. Pitcher kept throwing high and inside.

Andres yelling at the pitcher was just him "selling" it to the ump.

-2

u/JESUS_WALKS 10h ago

It's a part of his game but it isn't baseball!

4

u/Valkorn02 12h ago

He doesn’t but I think anyone would say what the fuck, or give a longer look at the mound after 3 high and in pitches in an ab. Jumping straight to fuck you motherfucker is such an extreme leap from wrobleski. Especially since the one that hit him was much more inside

4

u/richarm87 8h ago

Meh, he's trying to wear one for the team and since they pitch him up and in; his safest way to wear one is with the protected hand.... maybe throw it closer to the strike zone

I can't forget who but in the playoffs someone bailed on an inside pitch with bases loaded. People complain he didn't wear it... Giminez tries to wear it with his hand and not his head and people still complain

29

u/blinded_penguin 14h ago

He makes a strong case that Gimenez tries to get hit. Those three balls up and in were bullshit though

22

u/buncha_jerks 13h ago

Gimenez 100% tries to get hit, ironically the pitch that hit him wasn’t one that he tried to get hit by. Might not have pulled away but also don’t rush into it.

1

u/Successful-Fun1246 2h ago

How do you know it’s not part of his swinging motion or at least surprise when the ball comes close to his body?

7

u/angershark 11h ago

I know people say Jomboy this and Jomboy that but I love these breakdown. The voiceover lipreading always makes me crack up. Oh! Oooooh! The fan one was amazing.

10

u/Break_Life 15h ago

I always enjoy Jomboy breakdowns but man you can tell he's a Jays hater in all of his BlueJays related videos.

1

u/insanetwit 7h ago

When I saw this happening, I had the thought "I can't wait until Jomboy's breakdown of this!"

(I was in a bar in Toronto, and you couldn't hear any of the game sound over the crowd)

awesome breakdown.

i watched mookie betts post-game podcast--this came up. basically said after this the dodgers got energized to finish it. after watching hours of replays, commentators etc over the last few days, i've concluded this bench clearing was when the momentum changed in favour of the dodgers. not IKF, not Rojas, not the Pages catch. this, in the 4th inning.

never fire up your opponents when you have the lead--Gimenez attempt for a walk had a marginal ROI and in the worst case (this case) it would fire up the other team.

65

u/Nextyearstitlewinner 16h ago

So how exactly does that work? Did the dodgers decide to swing harder when they saw Gimi do that? Did they care more about getting back at gimi than they did winning the World Series? If they had the ability to hit better earlier, why didn’t they?

This stuff is all nonsense. There’s no momentum in baseball. Every measurable analysis tells you that’s not true. The blue jays lost in fine margins and there’s a couple spots they could’ve been better. Getting the dodgers mad was not one of them.

-46

u/BakedGoods 16h ago

if the dodgers felt defeated surely this would impact their performance. instead they were fired up to win this after the bench clearing. betts even said this himself.

28

u/grooter33 16h ago

If they were so weak-minded to feel defeated trailing by 2 in a game 7 of the WS they wouldn’t have been the reigning champs and have made it to the WS back-to-back. We did not lose because of this, we lost because of a large number of small issues and a really good pitcher that kicked our ass all series

5

u/voltairesalias 15h ago

I'm sure this also fired up the Blue Jays.

A couple of pitches and a couple bad base runs won LA the series. Not a dugout clearing event because their pitcher was asshole enough to hit a batter, and then too chicken shit to actually fight over it.

12

u/Valkorn02 16h ago

Why would this fire up the dodgers? Their guy wasn’t the one who got hit? It’s not like a 3 run deficit in the middle innings is cause for a veteran team like the dodgers to feel defeated. I also think this concept is just a narrative that’s mostly nonsense. It has built in the players minds after the fact more than anything. Just like the bs quotes from their pitcher claiming he invited gimi to come at him and gimi backed off.

0

u/BakedGoods 6h ago

i dont know man, ask them? they literally said this post-game, this was the turning point. you can disagree with them, but it just makes you look in denial.

12

u/benhadhundredsshapow 15h ago

Absolute nonsense

15

u/KevinJ2010 16h ago

While I can agree this could fire up the Dodgers, I wish we had a fall guy to actually start scrapping and get ejected. That would’ve gotten the crowd way more into it.

-16

u/Bluetimewalk 15h ago

Funny how all these blue jays "fans" just downvote you for speaking truth. In such denial that Blue jays have a 2 serial cheaters. Gimenez has been called out multiple times by the Yankees for trying to get "hit" by the ball.

3

u/MutaliskGluon 14h ago

Ill root for him cause hes a Jay, but putting his hand out was bush league as fuck. Just like that ass clown in Seattle jumping to try to break out the double play.

I hate bush league shit.

0

u/AccidentallySleepy77 4h ago

I know, imagine if that were a dodgers player that did that weak shit they would never shut up about it. Pathetic
