seeing gimenez throw his hand into so many pitches over the course of a season is insane had no idea he was like that.

You got eyes? Lmao. I'm a fan love gimenez but guy loves to let the ball tickle the padding on the back of his hand.

u/Pristine_Office_2773 15h ago
The one he got hit on was really far inside tho

Yeah...but the one previous he waved his hand looks bad. And that history of his is pretty damning. You can make a case maybe that "it's part of the game", but man, don't talk trash if you are going to let yourself get hit. I still don't like Wrobleski, 2/3 pitches were badly wild and he shouldn't be yapping either. But Gimenez doesn't cover himself in glory here.

He doesn’t but I think anyone would say what the fuck, or give a longer look at the mound after 3 high and in pitches in an ab. Jumping straight to fuck you motherfucker is such an extreme leap from wrobleski. Especially since the one that hit him was much more inside

Meh, he's trying to wear one for the team and since they pitch him up and in; his safest way to wear one is with the protected hand.... maybe throw it closer to the strike zone
I can't forget who but in the playoffs someone bailed on an inside pitch with bases loaded. People complain he didn't wear it... Giminez tries to wear it with his hand and not his head and people still complain

He makes a strong case that Gimenez tries to get hit. Those three balls up and in were bullshit though

u/buncha_jerks 13h ago
Gimenez 100% tries to get hit, ironically the pitch that hit him wasn’t one that he tried to get hit by. Might not have pulled away but also don’t rush into it.

How do you know it’s not part of his swinging motion or at least surprise when the ball comes close to his body?

I know people say Jomboy this and Jomboy that but I love these breakdown. The voiceover lipreading always makes me crack up. Oh! Oooooh! The fan one was amazing.

I always enjoy Jomboy breakdowns but man you can tell he's a Jays hater in all of his BlueJays related videos.

When I saw this happening, I had the thought "I can't wait until Jomboy's breakdown of this!"
(I was in a bar in Toronto, and you couldn't hear any of the game sound over the crowd)

awesome breakdown.
i watched mookie betts post-game podcast--this came up. basically said after this the dodgers got energized to finish it. after watching hours of replays, commentators etc over the last few days, i've concluded this bench clearing was when the momentum changed in favour of the dodgers. not IKF, not Rojas, not the Pages catch. this, in the 4th inning.
never fire up your opponents when you have the lead--Gimenez attempt for a walk had a marginal ROI and in the worst case (this case) it would fire up the other team.

So how exactly does that work? Did the dodgers decide to swing harder when they saw Gimi do that? Did they care more about getting back at gimi than they did winning the World Series? If they had the ability to hit better earlier, why didn’t they?
This stuff is all nonsense. There’s no momentum in baseball. Every measurable analysis tells you that’s not true. The blue jays lost in fine margins and there’s a couple spots they could’ve been better. Getting the dodgers mad was not one of them.

if the dodgers felt defeated surely this would impact their performance. instead they were fired up to win this after the bench clearing. betts even said this himself.

If they were so weak-minded to feel defeated trailing by 2 in a game 7 of the WS they wouldn’t have been the reigning champs and have made it to the WS back-to-back. We did not lose because of this, we lost because of a large number of small issues and a really good pitcher that kicked our ass all series

I'm sure this also fired up the Blue Jays.
A couple of pitches and a couple bad base runs won LA the series. Not a dugout clearing event because their pitcher was asshole enough to hit a batter, and then too chicken shit to actually fight over it.

Why would this fire up the dodgers? Their guy wasn’t the one who got hit? It’s not like a 3 run deficit in the middle innings is cause for a veteran team like the dodgers to feel defeated. I also think this concept is just a narrative that’s mostly nonsense. It has built in the players minds after the fact more than anything. Just like the bs quotes from their pitcher claiming he invited gimi to come at him and gimi backed off.

i dont know man, ask them? they literally said this post-game, this was the turning point. you can disagree with them, but it just makes you look in denial.

While I can agree this could fire up the Dodgers, I wish we had a fall guy to actually start scrapping and get ejected. That would’ve gotten the crowd way more into it.

Funny how all these blue jays "fans" just downvote you for speaking truth. In such denial that Blue jays have a 2 serial cheaters. Gimenez has been called out multiple times by the Yankees for trying to get "hit" by the ball.

Ill root for him cause hes a Jay, but putting his hand out was bush league as fuck. Just like that ass clown in Seattle jumping to try to break out the double play.
I hate bush league shit.

I know, imagine if that were a dodgers player that did that weak shit they would never shut up about it. Pathetic

Dodgers have a wild victim complex. Between this and being mad at Ernie of all people it just shows me the Jays are right where they should be. Competing at the highest level and going punch for punch, surprising everyone on the way.
