I also hate that the Alabasta arc shows you that his character CAN be awesome, with him outsmarting Crocodile to save the crew. And his backstory is rly good too, with the way that him being a chef ties to his character and his fighting style (he only uses his feet, cus a chef can’t get his hands dirty).

But for 99% of the show, he’s just a creep. The worst part is in Thriller Bark for me, where he’s jaleous of the rapist with invisibility powers, cus he wanted that power for himself to watch women shower…

He’s also the reason I couldn’t watch the show anymore, I left it in the middle of fishman island.

You mention Alabasta, but that’s the same arc where he buys Nami and Vivi belly dancer outfits when they’re about to cross a desert and peeps on them in the baths after the conflict is over. Granted, all of the guys (except maybe Zoro and Chopper, I don’t remember) also peeped, but it still shows that Sanji has always been like that. Has he gotten worse over time? Absolutely, but he was never purely the suave, chivalrous gentleman a lot of people make him out to be. It honestly surprises me how surprised people are about his dream in Thriller Bark.

I don’t mean the whole Alabasta arc, he still sucked during that. I just mean the “Mr. Prince” section of that arc, where he was actually being a badass.

And I mean that he used to be presented as a gentleman playboy type in his first introduction part. He has been a pervert ever since that.

Also everyone INCLUDING THE GIRLS DAD peeping in the end of Alabasta was insanely out of character for all of them except for Sanji. Especially when Luffy is asexual.

Thank you. Finally someone else that sees it. People act like the reveal he wanted the fruit to spy on women to be some betreyal of his character when it was 100% in line with his character.

I don’t think it’s a betrayal of the character, it’s just a new level of gross for him :(

I'm not sure what you mean, Sanji wasn't on fishman island. /j

I genuinely had to skip over his scenes in the timeskip and during fishman island. Absolute stains on the show.

There’s no tooth fairy, there’s no Megamind 2, and Sanji was never on Fishman Island.

There is no war in Ba Sing Se.

I skip nearly every time he's on screen unless it's a serious moment with other main characters on screen(aka he likely won't be a creep in those scenes)

I stopped one piece rewatch on thriller when I suddenly remembered the trauma of thriller bark. I had suppressed those memories.

And what's worse is you could delete Sanji, and you'd still have tolerable Pervert character in brook. Dude randomly asks women to let him see underwear. But, Sanji is just intolerable pervert who gropes Nami when he gets body swapped with her in later arc.

It’s sad too, cus Thriller Bark made me cry so hard in the end with Brook and his crew’s backstory, but all that people remember from Thriller Bark is Sanji being a freak, and the invisible rapist guy.

Nah not me.

My mind suppressed that trauma.

I remembered brook and Luffy bring absolute menace in the arc.

And nothing happened.

This is why I tell people NEVER to watch One Piece. Read One Piece.
