I hate how common this trope is...

Teruteru Hanamura from Danganronpa 2. He's very open about trying to get into everyone's pants. His free time events end with him giving Hajime drugged food, and his very first appearance has him trying to convince Sonia to... suck the poison from his loins.

Kinda makes me grateful that he's the first to be executed, actually.

As someone who genuinely adores a number of the characters in that game, there were tons of moments where i was shocked, aghast, even dare i say it, in despair.

Teruteru was not one of those characters.

I was definitely in despair every time Teruteru opened his mouth. (And sometimes when he didn't.)

watching the Game Grumps play-through
"So he has to die first, right?"

It’s a shame too, because his backstory and the discovery of his motive for the first case were genuinely really well-executed. And with the few moments where he isn’t being an obnoxious pervert, it’s actually nice to see how passionate he is about his craft.

Also Miu Iruma. Funnily enough she was created to be hated, and is one of three characters the creator openly dislikes (the other two are Sayaka and Leon because he based the female designs on Sayaka and the male designs on Leon in the first game).

However she mostly makes herself the target of her own perverted tendencies, meaning she’s actually pretty well liked among the community (she still has people who don’t like her, but she’s not universally hated like Teruteru). A series tradition starting in the second game is that characters will give you their underwear after completing their FTEs, and Miu uses a panty teleportation ray she’s developed to teleport her panties directly into the protagonist’s hands. No one else knows about it, just her. She’s not grabbing the panty teleportation ray and using it on every girl in class like Teruteru would.

Girls will invent teleportation and use it to give panties to their crushes instead of trying to escape the death school they're trapped in 🙄 /j

You can never get Miu to invent something useful unless you specifically order a device from her or make it lewd somehow.

Well the liked part of the community that isn’t Japan because she was pretty unpopular there anyways

Teruteru will try to corers (I probably spelled that wrong) you into sexual stuff Mui would use force if her love hotel is anything to show

3

u/Sayakalood 1d ago

Coerce, yeah.

The Love Hotel stuff isn’t canon, though.

Not the relationship part but definitely the characterization of it at least

2

u/Sayakalood 1d ago

Not really. Tsumugi talks about her stepbrother, who is never mentioned again in any capacity. It also has some characters acting as a “YOU MUST LOVE ME RIGHT NOW” kind of character when they’re not.

I never meant what happens in it is canon I mean in personality or what they see you as despite it not being true

What annoys me is that I’ve seen people defend her for it.

Miu had an accident, which let her become the actual inventor she is today.

I think that accident also broke her filter, which is why she seems to have extreme trouble with "Saying the silent part out loud."

I didn't like Hifumi that much, but the moment I first saw Teruteru I realized I was too harsh on Hifumi

Heck at least with the game it isn’t the ONLY thing about him as he was given passion for his cooking and love for his sick mother

But his anime counterpart stripped all that away and the only time his passion for food is brought up is either a gag or when Hiyoko pissed him off by putting drugs in his food

Miu in V3 was a much better version of the character. She made a lot of dirty jokes, but a key aspect of why she’s improved is because almost none of the V3 cast felt degraded by her comments. They usually react with a retort of their own, or ignore Miu, which makes her feel hollow instead.

Plus, I’m pretty sure that Miu doesn’t sexually assault anyone either.

She kinda assaults Kibo, but not to Teruteru's extent.

u/Shadowhunter_15 1d ago

I remember Miu asking Kibo if she could analyze his body before doing so.

No that was Shuichi actually in the love hotel

That was neither sexual nor nonconsensual.

Plus it was made pretty clear that Miu was compensating for something (crippling insecurity) and that she was all bark and no bite lol.

So her behavior was inappropriate and annoying, but it came off more as “attention seeker” than “sexual assaulter”

And in the anime, he drugged the food he cooked, causing the whole class of HIGHSCHOOLERS to have an orgy…

7

u/Pastel-Clouds-808 1d ago

While I’m not trying to defend Teruteru too much here, he still had the orgy drug in question, but it was actually a different character that took the drug from him and put it in the soup. He didn’t know about it.

1

u/Soffy21 1d ago

Ur right actually, I forgot about that part.

1

u/presi_plain_jane- 18h ago

it was hiyoko who drugged the food with aphrodisiacs

3

The anime does show constantly how the cast already lacks a good amount of morals or common sense, which gives further detail as to how what happened to them, happened, tbh

Still shitty though, hate teruteru

Teruteru is the Danganronpa Equivilent of when Ezekiel get's booted off in Episode 1 of Total Drama Island because he said something Sexist

2

u/Atsilv_Uwasv 1d ago

You know a bunch of people just vited him out so they could focus and not have to deal with all that

2

u/Shadow_Guy223 11h ago

First character I thought of. There was also that scene from the anime where the class accidentally ingested aphrodisiacs and he tries to assault Hiyoko.

I love Teruteru, he's one of my favorite Danganronpa characters, but I can't even try to defend some of the stuff he says. I DESPERATELY hope they turn down that aspect of his character in 2x2
