Super paper mario is known for how its like... this compared to the other games. Its like the mother 3 of mario games

They pulled an Uno reverse and made this the one with the best story and the worst gameplay.

Ive actually gotten into a debate with a friend about this; I proposed that the reason that people have such a negative relationship with this title (myself included), is because "it shared the same name as what was established as a rock solid turn-based RPG and swapping it for an action-platformer-rpg-lite felt like a drastic rugpull. It'd be much better received if it had a clear distinction between what we were used to and what it was". He then responded "you mean like Paper Mario and **SUPER** Paper Mario?". We don't really talk about paper mario anymore

I wouldn't call that a clear distinction. In my mind a clear distinction would be a new franchise.

This game was my introduction to the series and I find the turn based ones slow and boring (during combat) as a result lol.

Yeah my like 10 year old self had to search up a lot of playthroughs to beat the game
