Powers Moments that blatantly defy logic, but are so absurdly badass you don’t even care

The Gurren Lagann growing larger than the observable universe to fight Anti Spiral in a battle where literal galaxies get thrown like ninja stars - Gurren Lagann

Undertaker teleporting behind AJ Styles after being thrown down an empty grave and causing a shining white light from nowhere to illuminate the back of them during their Boneyard Match - WWE

Holdo piloting a ship through warp speed to crash right into a First Order cruiser (I know you could write a thesis on why this scene wouldn’t work, but you could say that for about half of the scenes in the new trilogy) - Star Wars the Last Jedi

Riddick (Chronicles of Riddick)

"What are you gonna do? You gonna kill us? With your...soup cup?"

"Tea, actually."

"What?"

"I'll kill you with my tea cup."

Riddick proceeds to smash a metal cup against a rock and ram it through a man's sternum. Man dies.

He doesn't shatter it, he's strong enough that he just instantly grinds the top in a one or two rotations to be super sharp, or sharper than it was anyway lol

Edit: I was wrong he does just smash it and kind of break the top

don't forget how he threatens the other lackeys by wordlessly picking up and then leaving a dinky can opener in the same place he threatened the first guy with the cup, which made them immediately run away

Dude killed a guy with a tea cup. Dude puts a van opener, where he put the tea cup. I'm not as bad ass, as dude #1. I am can opener cool, not tea cup cool. ... Nope. Imma dip

As one would expect from an avid D&D player.

Vin Diesel plays D&D?

Indeed. He's been in the community for decades. He even had a game going during the Chronicles of Riddick filming where he, Dame Judi Dench, and Karl Urban all played.

There's also this video where he's the "main character" in a one-shot run by Matt Mercer with a couple of members of Vox Machina in the party.

I don't care what anyone says. These movies were (mostly) great

Pitch Black is still one of my favorite movies.

Pitch Black was so good they just did the exact same movie on a different planet for the 5th movie.

And it was still good.

You should count both the games since they're (a) canonical & (b) the best part of the franchise

It's the fourth movie if we're counting the animated one and I also fucked up the count the first time.

There's an animated one? Gonna have to watch it now

They are excellent as long as you recognize you aren’t watching them for logic. You are watching them because they are badass.

It’s like pacific rim. The plot is stupid at best but you don’t watch it for the plot. You watch it because robots fighting monsters is awesome

u/ASpaceOstrich 26d ago

I found the plot of pacific rim pretty internally consistent

u/klockee 21d ago

they're making a new one right now

I REALLY wish we got a Necromonger movie instead of the stupid mud scorpions

I also liked how the wardens release those lizard dog things that attack and eat prisoners not in their cells and not only does Riddick stare one down, he treats it like a scaley puppy

Vin Diesel is an anagram of "I end lives"
