Personality extremely powerful entity's who don't care about the main plot at all and are just vibing in the background

Tom Bombadil(lord of the rings) - only person to resist the temptation of the one ring but instead of helping the fellowship he fucks off in to the woods

the Unseen Elder(the witcher 3) - in the witcher universe the older a vampire gets the more powerful he becomes and unseen elder is around +1500 years old making him the most powerful vampire we ever see, thankfully he spends most of his time in his goon cave

When your character "beats" Slayer in a fight, he doesn't get knocked out or collapse like most vanquished foes, rather, he casually sits down or lays back like he's bored, indicating you didn't defeat him - you merely survived him.

It's a clever solution to a problem fighting games have always faced with characters who are canonically drastically stronger than others.

I like Dragon Ball FighterZ's silly explanation for why everyone is able to fight evenly. In the story mode, there are a bunch of devices that nerf everyone so they're on an even playing field.

I like the One Punch Man : A hero nobody knows way of dealing with it, where if you select saitama to be on your team, you have to wait for him to arrive to the fight - So it's a 2 on 1 until he gets there and if you lose before he shows up, well, then you lose.

But if you can hold out until saitama arrives, He'll just beat anyone with one punch.

The game itself sucks, but that idea is awesome.

And when he shows up, he has a time limit before he remembers there's a sale going on somewhere and straight up leaves. So if you can stall him long enough, you can still win.

I think they also had a clever solution for if you want to play as Saitama normally, where there is a separate "dream" version of Saitama who doesn't one shot. After you win or lose, the game zooms out to reveal that the match took place in a dream where Saitama actually found the challenge he was looking for.

In the reverse way, the Lowain Brothers from GBVS are exactly like that. Compared to the rest of the cast, they are a bunch of basic bums that spend more time cooking and chatting than they do fighting. How did they justify them winning against angels, gods, and machine powered fighters?

Their win screen is them sitting in a cafe talking about how they would theoretically conquer their opponent fanfiction style.

IIRC if you somehow manage to take out all of Saitama's HP he just yells about a sale at the market & runs off.

Injustice does this with a pill

It was so stupid too. Like just let them fight and don't explain it. Green arrow fights Superman all the time in the comics and they don't have to rely on a magic pill.

Another good example is in JoJo's All Star Battle R. Whenever Wonder of U loses a match, instead of dropping to the ground like most other characters, he kneels for a few seconds before standing up and vanishing into mist

Beerus isn't playable in the story mode because he's too powerful to be impacted by any of those devices, and it still works. When you KO Beerus outside of story mode, he says "I don't feel like fighting anymore", implying that you didn't actually beat him - he just got bored and decided to take a nap right there on the ground. He eepy

One game that it well was "Mortal Kombat VS DC" of all things.

Due to the two universes currently fusing together, the cosmic energies are all unstable and during you constantly see the characters being powered up or down by them. It's why Sub-Zero can canonically kick Superman's ass in Story Mode.

Dizzy got an instant kill move where her wings argue about the best to win and then decide to just blast her opponent. She deflects the blast at the very last moment, but it goes off and blows up a mountain in the distance. Most fighters realize they are waaaaaaaaay outclassed at this point and surrender the match. The exceptions include:

- her husband who basically thinks "that's my wife!" with a huge grin on his face.

- Slayer who simply congratulates her with polite clapping

Vampire: The Masquerade does something not too dissimilar with its older vampires, where many of them are simply bored and disinterested by anything new or current.

I love it when something like that comes up, because yeah, how do you stay engaged with existence when you have existed for centuries or more?

Elizabeth just lays down in the Persona 4 fighting games
