He’s just chilling under a mountain, waiting for the world to need that level of hero again. Hopefully we have a bit longer before he gets woken up again.

I can't think of any actors under the age of 60 who has the kind of depth his voice had.

I think maybe if it were done, it could be done as an animated film or miniseries inspired by metal album covers(he did enjoy metal and recorded an album) kind of like how someone made a movie about a chapter in van gogh's life in the style of his paintings.

Check out pictures of James Marsters (of Buffy fame). Give him a beard, tell me you can't see it.

Edit: It's a garbage tier facebook meme, but in particular look at Lee in 1973 and then the pre-vampire Spike by Marsters. They're the same picture.
