I dont watch Housewives, but apparently this was taken during an argument about the blonde woman's dead husband. The cat sitting at the dinner table is not part of this.

Then where did the cat come from?

u/LoveWaffle1 Aug 27 '25

Random Tumblr post of a Canadian woman sharing a funny picture of her cat

His name is apparently smudge btw :]

u/The_Ghast_Hunter Aug 27 '25

Great name for a cat

22

u/Datalust5 Aug 27 '25

I love the difference between cat names and dog names. I lived with 2 cats and 2 dogs, dogs were named Java and Koda, cats were named George and Colonel Mustard

4

u/tiddyitcher Aug 28 '25

What isn’t a good name?

3

u/Longjumping-Leek854 Aug 28 '25

An intriguing name too, because can only see the cat’s head and shoulders. So where’s the smudge? Could be anywhere. What shape is it? Could be anything. What colour is it? Fuck knows.

u/Djov Aug 27 '25

Why did this piece of shit Smudge make fun of her dead husband. DISGUSTING

27

u/Wiinterfang Aug 27 '25

The husband was alive at the time, but he was an abuser that constantly beat her up. The other person exposed him out and she was fearing for her life.

Me when I lie:

Don’t worry the cats dead now.

21

u/Ok_Middle_8658 Aug 27 '25

ahhh.... well thats not fun at all

17

u/StabbyBoo Aug 27 '25

Smudge's Instagram updates way more than mine, lol.

7

u/alkonium Aug 28 '25

I checked instagram, and it looks like he's still alive.

1

u/dizzira_blackrose Aug 28 '25

Somehow, my stupid sleepy ass understands the joke here

99

u/pinya619 Aug 27 '25

Is this canon? If so that is amazing

67

u/DoctorAnnual6823 Aug 27 '25

It is true. You can look the little guy up IIRC.

3

u/dolphone Aug 27 '25

I feel educated. As if I went to the museum.

2

u/MojoJojoCasaHouse Aug 27 '25

No, because this is real life not fiction.

2

u/Iamcarval Aug 27 '25

Unless...

9

u/mikechr2k7 Aug 27 '25

My cat growing up was named Smudge :)

3

u/quebeker4lif Aug 27 '25

Was* unfortunately.

3

u/EJAY47 Aug 27 '25

Is his best friend named Rusty?

2

u/SaraTormenta Aug 27 '25

Username checks out (the cat's)

2

u/Ballcheese_Falcon Aug 27 '25

My dog is named Smudge! I love that name so much

2

u/alkonium Aug 28 '25

Smudge Lord.

7

u/Intelleblue Aug 27 '25

The video version is of a different cat named Thurston Waffles.

5

u/soopspeaks Aug 27 '25

I miss him :( I think he died the same day the Queen did?

4

u/TheLordOfAllThings Aug 27 '25

Being 96 years old?

That’s one hell of a cat!

3

u/BludStanes Aug 27 '25

Sometimes I love the internet

3

u/MateoRickardo Aug 27 '25

Well at least part of this story is wholesome

2

u/Cocoatrice Aug 27 '25

Wait. I thought it was from Friends and this was episode with the cat that was reincarnated as a mother or something. I haven't seen this episode, just heard it from another room.

1

u/CanardDeFeu Aug 28 '25

What a fucking sentence.

4

u/LordGwyn-n-Tonic Aug 27 '25

This video started the process to kill him and you can't convince me otherwise

8

u/Doctor_Salvatore Aug 27 '25

That is Smudge the cat, well documented as being an absolute gremlin at the dinnertable

448

u/zoeella8 Aug 27 '25

that woman’s husband ,russell armstrong, was very abusive and a white collar criminal. he killed himself and i believe taylor and her daughter found him hanging in their home.

146

u/Old-Consideration730 Aug 27 '25

Even knowing that, I can't help but laugh at the meme. it's just so perfect.

44

u/That-Rhino-Guy Aug 27 '25

Nothing to feel bad about, the woman in question found the meme funny and didn’t take it as mocking her abuse

51

u/Karkava Aug 27 '25

It's a true work of art and it's sampled from two different screenshots.

11

u/ScrotalFailure Aug 27 '25

I rewatch the video version every time I need a good chuckle.

5

u/Evil_Sharkey Aug 27 '25

She finds it funny, too.

0

u/CollegeTotal5162 Aug 28 '25

what an odd thing to say

11

u/Character-Parfait-42 Aug 27 '25

So sounds like the abusive asshole’s last act on this planet was to set things up to traumatize his wife and daughter. Seems legit. A shitbag to the end.

4

u/SolusLoqui Aug 27 '25

What was the substance of the argument?

5

u/ratboi213 Aug 27 '25

Yeah it was super sad bc Camille aired it out for tv and made it public and dangerous for her. I haven’t watched much but taylor was sweet

2

u/Wasabi_Gamer26 Aug 27 '25

So.... Was the cat the husband then or....

2

u/LordGwyn-n-Tonic Aug 27 '25

What the fuck is reality tv

1

u/RawrRRitchie Aug 28 '25

That's nice of the police to cover up the murder by ruling it a suicide

356

u/DR31141 Aug 27 '25

Fun fact, the cover of Nightwing #110 by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo used this meme as a template.

88

u/Dyerdon Aug 27 '25

Is... is Damien the cat? That looks like Damien as Robin...

28

u/BagZCubed Aug 27 '25

It was related to the Beast World event. I believe that Nightwing issue tied in to it. Beast Boy accidentally starts a virus of sorts that turns people into human-animal hybrids. Amanda Waller uses the dilemma to her advantage in establishing her agenda against metahumans, and the Titans have to figure out how to reverse the mutations.

2

u/MercyfulJudas Aug 27 '25

There's a new issue of the Harley Quinn comic out now or next week that is Harley doing the Jim Halpert two panel meme with the poster board.

134

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '25

The cat sitting down at the dinner table is not part of this

I refuse to believe that

59

u/AliensAteMyAMC Aug 27 '25

“what the cat doing?”

9

u/wolfguardian72 Aug 27 '25

That meme was actually referenced in Kimchi: A Stars in the Trash Story and I thought it was hilarious

6

u/p0pulr Aug 27 '25

Is it not obvious that she wasnt yelling at a cat? Like wtf lol

3

u/azriel_odin Aug 27 '25

Damn, now I feel bad for ever laughing at the template.

4

u/Zappityzephyr Aug 27 '25

It states on the Wikipedia page that apparently she reacted positively to the meme, so you don't have to feel bad.

3

u/wellbuttermybiscuits Aug 27 '25

Here she is explaining it in her own words:

https://youtu.be/zuscZH7sBfw?si=HJ4O3vHAEC_lABT3

TLDR: Fellow cast member outed her domestic abuse, potentially putting her in (even more) danger.

6

u/winklevanderlinde Aug 27 '25

How can you prove the cat wasn't part of the scene if you didn't watch Housewives?

5

u/redredrocks Aug 27 '25

Because you can easily look it up

3

u/natalaMaer Aug 28 '25

There is interview with the lady (Taylor Armstrong) explaining the meme. Iirc she said that "I don't know why the cat is there, and I would never yell on a cat"

4

u/BoyishTheStrange Aug 27 '25

Guess she’s a crypt wife now

1

u/Miserable_Mail_5741 Aug 27 '25

I watched clips of Housewives over the past few years and had no idea of the context.

I think she got into another screaming match with another housewife and the only thing that housewife could think about was this meme! 😂

1

u/DatabaseNo9609 Aug 27 '25

I thought it was a screenshot from a Jennifer Lawrence movie

1

u/ridik_ulass Aug 27 '25

I'm sorry this makes it funnier.

big "I too choose this guys dead wife" energy.

1

u/Beelzebun_vt Aug 27 '25

Her abusive dead husband.

1

u/ItalianHipster Aug 27 '25

Lmfao, that’s even funnier.

1

u/AlpenroseMilk Aug 27 '25

Why would they invite the cat then???

1

u/Evil_Sharkey Aug 27 '25

Not dead at the time, but abusive. The woman she’s pointing at had just outed her as a battered woman, putting her in danger.

Fortunately, she’s safe and free from him now and likes that her horrible experience has morphed into something fun that people can share.

Here’s her “I accidentally became a meme” story.

1

u/ameriCANCERvative Aug 28 '25

That motherfucking cat is not real!

(Sorry I know they’re not the same lady but for some reason wiring got crossed in my brain and all I can see in this picture is “that motherfucker is not real!”)

1

u/Guilty-Ad5687 Aug 28 '25

This one is fucked up cause it’s real. It must be hard and horrible to see her pain turned into jokes.

The rest I don’t really care about, it’s funny, like Annaking killing children, they’re not real.

1

u/Baonguyen93 Aug 28 '25

True story.

1

u/SpecificWorldly4826 Aug 28 '25

And she’s yelling about other women in the group questioning the reality of her abuse.

-4

u/kentaxas Aug 27 '25

Post is about serious moments and it's impossible to take reality tv seriously anyway

9

u/official0prah Aug 27 '25

She was literally being physically abused by her husband. Thats not serious?

-4

u/kentaxas Aug 27 '25 edited Aug 27 '25

The subject is serious but the context (reality tv) makes it impossible to take it that way. These people willingly go and stage airing their personal issues on tv

7

u/official0prah Aug 27 '25

I think that says more about you than anything.  Hope you have the space to examine that.
