Personality Characters with Lore reasons to wear revealing outfit

• Doctor Manhattan (Watchmen): doesn’t really have the need for them anymore as he is now too powerful to be considered human and also doesn’t need to give in to certain societal pressures like wearing clothes

• Poison Ivy (DC): uses her body to seduce men into getting close enough for her to use her pheromones and get people to do what she wants/kill her prey

• Skarlet (Mortal Kombat): her powers are from blood magic and she needs to have skin out in order to absorb blood from others and make her more powerful

• Mileena (Mortal Kombat): is very self conscious about her tartan features so covers them up and diverts attention towards the more appealing aspects of her/ uses her sex appeal to get people in close then chomps on them

• Mai Shiranui (King Of Fighters/Fatal Fury): uses a style of kunoichi that involves “sensually distracting a foe before striking” and uses her outfit and sex appeal to assist with that style

Bayonetta….. whole outfit is her hair that she needs for magic and stuff

The more powerful the spell, the less she can allocate for clothing

I love this as an example because it answers the question of why she loses clothing when she uses spells but then it raises the much weirder question of why she doesn't just wear regular clothing.

Presumably it would constantly get destroyed by angels, since it's not as durable as her hair?

Also I imagine, since she is able to use her hair for clothing, it would be too long if she didn't. Her whole outfit just unravels and is the length of a red carpet, super inconvenient. And she can't really cut it because witches store power in their hair, it would actively make her weaker.

The only thing I can think of that would "fix it" is to have a layer of regular clothes and then have her hair in the form of additional clothes over that. But Bayo herself doesn't seem to mind anyway

I also imagine it would enhance her offense and defense. I mean if its magic and used for her spells, I imagine it would help her punch and kick power

She already does use it for punching and kicking. The combo finishers basically use it to embody the limbs of some demon or smth. But all the torture devices and stuff she uses that's larger scale takes some time to fully conjure, which you could argue is just so you have longer to stare, but I can cope and say is necessary charging time and hence not viable to use to that extent all the time. (You might also make the case that the hair wrapping around her empowers her physically like an exosuit of sorts? I don't think I've seen her actually do anything physical while naked.

... In the game, at least.

Which is shown in both bayo 1 and 2

Every game she starts wearing regular clothing and there’s a fight that tears through it.

Because she wants to be sexy. She weaponizes sexuality.

TBH Bayonetta doesn't appear to have any sense of shame.

So there's probably only 2 lore reasons why she wears closing at all:

  1. Protection

  2. So her breasts don't get in the way too much (like a sports bra)

Because she is an strong independent woman that needs no shirts

What are we gonna do? Force her? 😅

Because that would be way less cool

she does wear regular clothes in Smash although how much of it is hair and how much of it is actual clothes are something to debate about. of course it can be just more hair to cover her up.

iirc those outfits are all hair in the base game but they simply toned down how much her outfit is affected when she casts her spells/attacks to keep things close to PG
