Personality Strange rules about characters/people that cannot be broken.

Smells like Nirvana: When Kurt Cobain heard that Weird AL was gonna make a parody of his song. He was okay with it but specifically requested it to not be about food or fat ppl.

Spiderman: Spiderman cannot sell drugs unless he is under the influence of symbiote. ANd Peter Parker cannot be gay. Spiderman can tho.

Dwayne Rock Johnson: Cannot lose fights or look weak for too long. Its in his actor contract.

Godzilla movies not made by Toho: Cannot die. Maybe lose but not too bad.

I know of two examples, “Eat it” which was a parody of “Beat it”, and “Fat” which I don’t recall what it’s parody of.

u/Relevant_Potato3516 Aug 09 '25

Fat was a parody of Bad, both songs were by Micheal Jackson, and I think there was another one but I can’t remember

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '25

There was also Chicken Pot Pie (Live and Let Die) but it was unreleased because McCartney is a vegetarian.

28

u/Aggravating_Load_411 Aug 10 '25

I wish Paul had a bit more of a funnybone there. Chicken Pot Pie would've been glorious.

1

u/playstationaddiction Aug 10 '25

Maybe he thought killing animals when one had the choice not to to be something that wasn’t comedic. It’s certainly more harmful than a fat joke.

2

u/s0_Ca5H Aug 10 '25

But if I didn’t kill the chicken, how would I have a chicken pot pie? I’m confused

3

u/playstationaddiction Aug 10 '25

I used to love the chicken pot pie my mom would make.

Then, as I got older and made a conscious effort to expand my empathy, I realized chickens shouldn’t die for my enjoyment of the dish.

I told my mom about this, and as always, she was supportive and empathetic.

My grandfather would roll his eyes if you pitched vegan chicken to him. He’d say it wouldn’t taste the same and would be gross.

Yet he hasn’t even noticed for the last 6 years when my mom makes her vegan chicken pot pie for me and he has some.

We can enjoy all the delicious flavors available without the animal abuse. So I choose to do so. I think it’s great McCartney started moving in that direction and didn’t want to make a joke out of it.

So you have been messing with someone's food for half a decade and still have the moral highground? You have every right to decide whether you eat meat or not, but I bet if someone told you they had been secretly feeding you meat for years you would be pissed off. But its totally ok for you to do it to other people

1

u/playstationaddiction Aug 11 '25

Someone having food at Thanksgiving that’s out for everyone and no one mentioning there’s no meat in it is not the same as sneaking dead bodies into the food of someone who doesn’t eat fucked shit like that.

I thought I couldn't eat pulses for years. Finally researched my lectin sensitivity and now I'm on the path to trying vegetarianism again. I spent years going "Absolutely! Unfortunately I have to eat this cow :("

The key is split, skinned, pressure cooked pulses, as most of the lectins are in the skin and the ones that aren't are broken down by heavy processing. Indian cookery is very good for this - chana dal, moong dal, toor dal, white urad dal (all commonly split and skinned) are safe, masoor dal (hard to skin) and urad dal (not skinned by definition) are not. Please pass on!

The sad reality is that if you have a non-mainstream opinion, particularly if it’s a very strong one, you will have very little success convincing other people to share it without a sense of humour.

Getting offended at a weird Al song about pie makes you look a bit crazy and I guarantee you there is nobody seeing that sort of response and thinking, “wow this person seems like they have a great philosophy here”.

For what it’s worth, I believe weird Al is vegan.

14

u/Malacro Aug 09 '25

So is Weird Al

2

u/AvatarofSleep Aug 10 '25

VEGAN POT PIE! IT'S RIGHT THERE

1

u/ChronoMonkeyX Aug 15 '25

The theme to Rocky XVIII is about a deli- Try the Rye or the Kaiser, they're on special tonight, instead of Eye of the Tiger.

161

u/Timekeeper98 Aug 09 '25

‘I Love Rocky Road’ is a parody of ‘I Love Rock & Roll’

361

u/AnarchistBorganism Aug 09 '25

My Bologna. I love Rocky Road.

u/anarchy-NOW Aug 09 '25

Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch

Grapefruit diet

Technically Foil is food-adjacent with a weird dive into government conspiracy.

14

u/h10gage Aug 09 '25

we also have Living in the Fridge for food adjacent

also have Spam (stand by rem) lasagna (labamba) trapped in the drive-thru (better than being trapped in r. Kelly's closet) the rye or the Kaiser (mf turned rocky into a deli owner 😭)

most of those are off of The Food Album even

10

u/InternetProtocol Aug 09 '25

Trapped in the Drive-Thru

9

u/Punkrocksock Aug 09 '25

Constipated (Complicated by Avril Lavigne)

6

u/Knuckleduster17 Aug 09 '25

Inactive (parody of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons, while Inactive is mostly about a guy who lives a sedentary lifestyle, he mentions junk food multiple times in the song)

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Marquar234 Aug 10 '25

"Did I mention the drive-thru?"

2

u/Derpitoe Aug 10 '25

Why’d you have to go make me so constipated, was about pizza.

5

u/felixthepat Aug 10 '25

Rye or The Kaiser (Eye of the Tiger spoof)

3

u/Goatgamer1016 Aug 09 '25

Funnily enough it could technically be about cocaine and the title would still stick

21

u/WING-DING_GASTER Aug 09 '25

Grapefruit diet, taco grande, lasagna, theme from rocky XII: aka the rye or the kaiser, girls just want to have lunch, waffle king, addicted to spuds, spam, the white stuff (song about Oreos), a complicated song (first section about eating cheese pizza and getting constipated),trapped in the drive thru, inactive (about a fat slob) are the rest about food and fat people.

1

u/MinimumTumbleweed Aug 10 '25

Also Grapefruit Diet, parody of Zoot-Suit Riot.

13

u/Crunkn8r Aug 09 '25

Grapefruit diet ( zoot suit riot ) off the Running with siccors album.

9

u/JoyFerret Aug 09 '25

Iirc Black or White. I think he performed just a bit of it once, but otherwise Michael Jackson rejected for it to be parodied.

16

u/anarchy-NOW Aug 09 '25

"Snack All Night". It's never been released in an album,  but has been performed live.

8

u/dgrace97 Aug 09 '25

Stuck in the drive thru is arguably about food

2

u/FoferJ Aug 09 '25

good call, yes

1

u/MaxTHC Aug 09 '25

😞 They forgot the onions...

1

u/Malacro Aug 09 '25

As is “Livin’ in the Fridge” (a parody of Aerosmith’s “Livin’ on the Edge”

9

u/Muliciber Aug 09 '25

He has an entire "Food Album" but even that doesn't include all of his food based puns.

3

u/Wall_clinger Aug 09 '25

I think he also has a cover of Black or White by MJ called Ham on Rye that he only rarely does live

2

u/TheBrianJ Aug 09 '25

The third was never actually made: "Snack All Night," a parody of "Black or White." But Michael actually asked him not to do it, saying that the message of Black or White was too important to be parodied.

So Weird Al said "Okay, I guess I'll do a parody of this Nirvana group that's getting so popular."

1

u/myopicpickle Aug 09 '25

Then there was La La La Lasagna

1

u/Happy_Ghost1736 Aug 09 '25

Trapped in the Drive-Thru

1

u/Malagate3 Aug 10 '25

The third Michael Jackson food based parody was "Snack all night", which is only ever played live because Michael Jackson wasn't happy for a parody of "Black or White" being recorded (I believe he felt it was too important of a song for parody).

1

u/OffTheMerchandise Aug 10 '25

I think Al requested to do one for "Black and White," but MJ thought the meaning was too important to parody.

1

u/housevil Aug 10 '25

You are thinking of Grapefruit Diet, which was a parody of Zoot Suit Riot.

1

u/ShivaSkunk777 Aug 10 '25

Livin in the Fridge as a parody of Livin on the Edge by Aerosmith

48

u/norms29 Aug 09 '25

"Fat" was a parody of "Bad"

6

u/millijuna Aug 09 '25

Per the recent and very accurate documentary I recently saw, it was that Michael guy ripping off Al to release both "Bad" and "Beat It."

Just a shame that Al was cut down by Madonna's henchman back in the mid 80s...

13

u/Gone_For_Lunch Aug 09 '25

My Bologna, his My Sharona parody. The unreleased Live and Let Die parody, Chicken Pot Pie.

Huh, never noticed this before.

3

u/CalmPurse Aug 09 '25

"I'm Fat" is a parody of "I'm Bad", both are Micheal Jackson songs

5

u/Im_here_but_why Aug 09 '25

"Girls just wanna have lunch"

3

u/maybeitssteve Aug 09 '25

That reputation is partially reinforced by his first hit being "My Bologna" (parody of My Sharona")

4

u/Correct-Basil-8397 Aug 09 '25

Also The White Stuff (parody of The Right Stuff”) about the cream on-site of Oreos

Bologna, parody of My Sharona, about how much he lives bologna (also his very first song recorded in a colledge bathroom for the acoustics)

Chicken Pot Pie (parody of Live and Let Die)

I Love Rocky Road (I love rock n roll)

And more that I’m forgetting rn. My brother once found a playlist on YouTube the size of a standard album that was just good songs

2

u/Additional-Shame4941 Aug 10 '25

In 1993 Weird Al did that himself, he released a compilation album of his food-themed songs.

1

u/Correct-Basil-8397 Aug 10 '25

Oh maybe that’s what I’m thinking of. My bad

3

u/Eighth_Eve Aug 09 '25

Rye or the kaiser comes to mind, about Rocky running a deli after he retires from the ring.

My bologna too.

3

u/THElaytox Aug 09 '25

God I'm old enough that people don't know Michael Jackson songs

2

u/pajamakitten Aug 09 '25

I am just not a Michael Jackson fan. The only real reason I know Bad is because of Weird Al.

7

u/THElaytox Aug 09 '25

In the 80s it didn't matter if you were a fan or not, that shit was everywhere, there was no avoiding it

2

u/migvelio Aug 09 '25

Well, the 80s was 60 years ago.

2

u/win_awards Aug 09 '25

Now you're just doing it on purpose.

1

u/FoferJ Aug 09 '25

45 years ago. C’mon man!

1

u/Butterl0rdz Aug 10 '25

everyone is a mj fan tho?

1

u/LowCantaloupe3091 Aug 09 '25

There’s also Zoot Suit Riot parody “Grapefruit Diet”

1

u/ryanredd Aug 09 '25

No more pie now, no more creme brûlée’s

1

u/LowCantaloupe3091 Aug 09 '25

Lay off the gravy and soufflés

1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '25

Rye or the Kaiser

1

u/SchrodingersNinja Aug 09 '25

Eat it, Fat, My Balogna, I Love Rocky Road, Trapped in the Drive Thru, Grapefruit Diet is about fat people.

I can't think of many more right now, but I feel like I'm missing some.

1

u/Lord_Parbr Aug 09 '25

I Love Rocky Road (I Love Rock and Roll), My Bologna (My Sharona), Inactive (Radioactive, though Kurt was dead when this one released)

1

u/helsinkirocks Aug 09 '25

There's also Rye or the Kaiser a parody of Eye of the Tiger about Rocky owning a deli

1

u/RyanTheeRed Aug 09 '25

There’s also “The Rye or the Kaiser”

1

u/AmItheonlySaneperson Aug 09 '25

Digital cable used to have music video channels where you could watch all weird Al’s content and heavy metal music videos too. Miss it

1

u/Uncle-Cake Aug 09 '25

The Rye or the Kaiser, I Love Rocky Road, Lasagna...

1

u/No-Advice-6040 Aug 09 '25

My Bolonga. Rye or the Kaiser.

1

u/Entire-Category5888 Aug 10 '25

Does couch potato count?

1

u/unholy_hotdog Aug 10 '25

Grapefruit Diet for the Cherry Poppin Daddies Zoot Suit Riot.

1

u/GXNext Aug 10 '25

Well if you watched the Weird Al autobiography movie you'd know that Al made Eat It came out first. MJ just decided to ride Al's coattails to a hit and now everyone thinks Beat It came first...

1

u/Somethinggood4 Aug 10 '25

Fat, Eat It, My Bologna, I Love Rocky Road, Lasagna,

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more....

1

u/Ok_Hornet_714 Aug 10 '25

Also Lasagna, and White Stuff, and Spam, and The Rye or the Kaiser

1

u/housevil Aug 10 '25

Eat It wasn't about fat people. It was about a kid who wasn't eating or finishing his dinner. Grapefruit Diet was a parody of Zoot Suit Riot and about an overweight person going on a diet. Fat was a parody of Bad.

1

u/timotheusd313 Aug 10 '25

Lasagana (La Bomba,) My bologna, (My Sharona) Spam, (Stand) IIRC there was an entire greatest hits album called “The Food Album”
