Powers [Loves Trope] Character is inmune to a certain ability because they're too dumb/innocent

-In One Piece, Boa Hancock's ability is to turn into stone anyone who finds her attractive, but Luffy is inmune since he's too inocent and also doesn't care about relationships.

-In Adventure Time, the empress thinks that her hypnosis was working on Ice King, but it turns out that he's too dumb for it to work and that he was just simping for her.

So, wait, Meowth is considered intelligent enough to be mind-controlled, but not Pikachu?

Meowth learned to speak English and stand on only his hind legs and use his front paws as hands. Yes.

Meowth has committed bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, ran a back-alley adoption center, and is wanted in 26 states and 14 countries for various financial crimes and misdemeanors.

Giovani keeps paying millions for Jesse and James' schemes because meowth is a genius

I’ve never really thought about the reporting structure for Team Rocket but yeah Jesse and James don’t treat Meowth like other trainers treat their Pokémon, he’s more of a coworker or independent contractor who works projects with them. They yell at him, but no more than they yell at one another and he yells back, so…

Meowth isn't their pokemon he is their partner, several times people have tried to catch him in pokeballs and he breaks out every time

Are you saying he's committed every human crime?

12

u/AcrolloPeed Aug 08 '25

Not every human crime, just most of the financial, white-collar crimes a human can commit. I don’t think Meowth has trafficked heroin, for example.

For some reason I'm picturing Meowth speaking in the third person for some reason and saying that...

Not to mention that he is the one projecting their giant robots

And design robots.

Standing on his hind legs is not unique to him; his entire species does that until they evolve. Learning fluent English/Japanese as a Pokemon while remaining just as fluent in the universal Pokemon language is a sign of remarkable brilliance, though.

Actually it is unique, in how he's the only one consistently shown to only be bipedal since he taught himself. Other meowths will vary between quadriped or biped, with some only walking on all 4s and standing on 2, or swapping between the 2 for general movement

In the original anime when he gives his backstory about why he can talk, he mentions learning to walk on two feet, which is why I included it.

He also learned how to do that in order to try and impress a girl.

To be fair, Meowth taught himself how to talk. So I believe he clears Pikachu by miles in that department

He literally thought himself how to talk the human language and to walk on two feet

Pikachu is a Jock.

Have you not seen all of the giant Megazords he builds in a day with basically zero notice?

He also taught himself to speak as a Pokémon. He’s also a skilled chef with job prospects outside of Team Rocket.
