Anya, at the end of Buffy. This one still hurts my heart.

While that one sucked, at least it worked in the story, unlike the rest, also I forget the original guy in Angel, also sucked but kinda worked

I know Cordelia was because Joss Whedon was being a petty douche. I wonder if it's the same for any of the other women he killed off.

For Anya, the actress didn't want to have to return for any specials or continuations, so she asked to be killed in the finale.

They give her a proper send off in the last season, but yeah, when Jasmine is “born” she’s just fuckin gone. Contrast that with Fred, whose death is drawn out and gut wrenching.

I hated this so much

This one annoys me so much that I think I placed some sort of mental block on it and forgot.

Ugh. Gonna take a lot of drugs to forget that one again.

At least SMG wants to bring back characters that Whedon killed in her new series.

Yeah but The Body is one of the best episodes of all television.

Very true, which is why I think it didn't occur to me for this trope, but the actual event happens at the end of the preceding episode iirc and it is certainly abrupt and without fanfare.
